The construction of a 3,000-ton steel ship, designated as Cruiser No. 7, is going forward at the Navy Yard, This vessel was begun in the fall of 1889. She is to have a length over all of 305 feet 6 inches, and a breadth extreme of 42 feet inch. Her depth of hold will be 23 feet 8 inches, and her mean draught, 18 feet. The cruiser will be very fast, with engines of 10,000 horse power, her estimated speed being between 19 and 20 knots. The engines are building at the Navy Yard. Cruiser No. 7 has a protective deck. Her battery will consist of ten 4-inch rapid fire guns, a 6-inch breech-loading rifle, and a secondary battery of smaller rapid fire guns, revolving cannon and gatlings. She will proba bly be named the Cincinnati.

The Surrogate's Court has jurisdiction in all matters appertaining to the estates of deceased persons who were at demise residents of the County of Kings, and also of deceased persons who were residents of this State leaving real or personal estate within this county. It has power, likewise, to appoint guardians of all infants interested in such property as above, and to control and settle accounts of all executors, administrators and guardians within the like limit. Surrogate Abbott's term expires Dec. 31, 1895. THE JUDICIARY.

The County Court has jurisdiction of all actions for partition of real property; for dower, foreclosure of a mortgage, etc.; for specific performance of a contract relating to real property where the real property is situated in the county; in an action to foreclose a lien on a chattel, not exceeding $1,000, and the lien is found in the county; in favor of the executor, administrator, or assignee of a judgment creditor, etc.; for any other cause where the defendant or all the defendants are residents of the county at the time of beginning the action, when judgment is demanded for money only, not exceeding $1,000, or to recover chattel or chattels not exceeding in value $1,000; to the custody of the person and care of the property concurrently with the Supreme Court, if the person is a resident of the county, etc. Judge Moore's term expires December 31, 1895.

The Court of Sessions has jurisdiction over all criminal cases, including those punishable by death or imprisonment for life. Its jurisdiction is co-extensive with that of the Oyer and Terminer, which is the criminal branch of the Supreme Court and the highest court of criminal jurisdiction in this county. The County Judge presides in this court.
