Flatbush avenue. In the twenty-five mile handicap road race held on the Irvington-Milburn course, on Decoration day, George Holland took seventh place, covering the 25 miles in 1 h. 35 m. 12 s. J. McCue, captain of the club, also rode in this race, as did A. W. Feldmier, the former taking thirteenth place, making the distance in 1 h. 37 m. 44 s. actual time, and the latter finishing twenty-fifth, in 1 h. 37 m. 53 s. On Election Day the club held a ten mile handicap race, for members only, on the ElizabethSpringfield course, in which Robert Miller finished 1st, Richard Peddlar 2d, George Holland 3d, and F. Gruen 4th. The club had a theatre party on October 23, seeing the "Shatchen," at Holmes' Star Theatre.

Kings County Wheelmen.

The annual reception was held on February 27. March 20, annual election. May 17, won the 3 mile lap team race, at the spring games of the Berkeley Athletic Club. W. F. Murphy, C. M. Murphy, and F. B. Hesse composed the team. June 25, annual lantern parade on Bedford avenue, in which about 500 wheelmen took part. In the annual Decoration Day 25 mile handicap road race on the Irvington-Milburn course in New Jersey, 24 members were entered. W. F. Murphy made the best time, 1 hour 28 m., and 14 s., which is the present record on the course. T. J. Hall, Jr., also broke the previous record, but his time, 1 h. 29 m. 38 s., was not as fast as Murphy's; C. W. Bayes finished 6th; W. H. Wells, 8th; J. R. Bedford, 9th; F. G. Macdonald, 14th; W. Finn, 15th; W. F. Murphy, 16th; R. W. Steves, 17th; T. J. Hall, Jr., 18th; R. L. Jones, 23d; P. C. Finn, 24th; F. Kenny, 32d; J. S. Bowdish, 34th; John Bensinger, 36th; W. H. Roberts, 38th, and D. The fastest mile ever ridden in Brooklyn, 2 m. 51 s., was made in the two mile ordinary handicap by W. F. Murphy, K. C. W., who rode from scratch. The club has a bowling team in the Caruthers tournament.

Long Island Wheelmen.

The season of 1890 was one of active riding, and a number of very large mileages were rolled up, ranging from four thousand miles down. The following members received medals for making centuries: U. Palmedo, E. F. Beecher, T. Ridsdale, C. E. Tripler, A. S. Willdigg, L. H. Wise, G. B. Starrett, F. E. Pearce, C. C. Alden. The social seasons were markedly lively and pleasant. The club house is open to visitors every Saturday night during the winter, and a ladies' reception is given once a month. The 1 mile ordinary handicap at Washington Park on June 28, was won by C. C. Alden from the 35 yard mark with L. H. Wise, scratch, 2d. The eighth annual dinner was held at the Clarendon Hotel on Saturday evening, November 22, C. H. Luscomb presided and responded to the toast, "The Club." The other speakers were Commissioner Adams, W. W. Share, E. F. Beecher, Captain Dillont, C. C. Alden and J. L. Shepherd.

Prospect Wheelmen.

Organized on August 14, 1888, with five charter members, it now has twenty members, and occupies quarters at 434 Union street. The 10 mile championship race on the Irvington-Milburn course on Decoration day was won by S. W. Shannon in 39 m. 45 s.; R. J. Wolfe, 2d, and C. A. Kant 3d. A party of members spent two weeks in July at Lake Tyrel. A 5 mile road race, which was held there, was won by George Shannon; Elmer Tyrel, 2d. On August 14 the second anniversary was celebrated at the residence of C. A. Kane. The Bate medal for the member making the best mileage from March 1 to November 1, was won by George W. Shannon, who rode 3,486 miles in that time. Elmer Tyrel rode 3,004 miles in the same length of time, while W. T. Shannon, C. A. Kane, W. C. Hotze, E. Smith, B. L. Tyrel, R. J. Wolfe, E. Boner and W. Dower have all ridden over 1,000 miles and will receive silver mileage bars from the club. An average mileage of nearly 1,000 miles is credited to each member for the year. G. W. Shannon won the gold stop watch offered by the captain to the member attending the greatest number of runs.

pionship games and the exhibition games were with Yale, 2, Princeton, Columbia, and Stevens Institute.

Interscholastic Foot Ball League, which was organized during the season of 1889, was continued during the past season. The games resulted in a tie between the Adelphi and Stevens High School teams, each having won five games and lost one. At a meeting of the officers of the league it was decided to award the championship pennant to the Adelphis, they having scored the highest number of points in the games played. Bancker won by a put of 32 ft. 7 in.; G. Coon, 28 ft 6 in., 2. G. O. Coon, of Class of '93, gained 16 points in the contests, and E. Bancker gained 13 points.

Brooklyn Young Men's Christian Association-The new athletic plant of the association at Atlantic and Manhattan avs. was open to the members on June 7. A series of members' competitions were held, the results of which were as follows: 100 yards run, W. Weiss, 1; time, 12 s.; W. J. Dains, 2. 120 hurdle race, W. Weiss, 1; time, 20 s.; S. Freeth, 2. 440 yards run won by J. B. Mulligan, 1 m. 5 s.; C. Keesman, 2. Pole vault was won by A. Hoskins, 9 ft. 6 in.; Ira Baird, 8 ft. 11 in., 2. 880 yards run, won by E. Thorn, 2 m. 183 s.; W. Durkee, 2. Running broad jump, won by G. W.Dains, 18 ft. 9 in.: A. Hoskins, 18 ft. 6 in., 2. Potato race, K. J. Garlach won, with J. Pigott, 2 Running high jump, J. Hoskins, W. J. Daines. J. Wiegand, J. Gascoigne each cleared the bar at 5 ft. 1 in.

Brighton Athletic Club held members' competitions at Dexter Park on May 30. 100 yards run, W. J. Carr, scratch, 1, 113 s.; J. Smith, 4 yards, 2. Running high jump, W. C. Carr, 3 in., 4 ft. 9 in., 1; H. L. Spencer, 5 in., 4 ft. 5 in., 2. Putting 16 pound shot, won by W. Hastie, 31 ft. 9 in.; G. N. Forbell won 2d by a put of 30 ft. 1 in. 220 yards run, J. Smith, 10 yards, won with J. Mulligan, 10 yards, 2; time, 25 s. 1 mile run won by H. F. Spencer, scratch; C. A. Menon, 35 yards, 2.

Bridge Athletic Club-The boxing tournament of this club was held on November 11 and 13 at the Palace Rink. The winners of the contests were as follows: Bantam weight class, K. Hogan, National A. C.; feather weight class, Thos. Creed, Nonpareil A. C; special 120 pound class, Pete McNally, Bridge A. C.; light weight class, C. Jackson, Palmetto A. C., by default; special 145 pound class, Ed Closterman, Scottish-American A. C.; and the middle weight class was won by M. McAuliffe, Bridge A. C.

Canadian Championships-The Canadian championships were held at Montreal during September. The following athletes who reside in Brooklyn, representing New York athletic clubs, captured prizes: M. Remington, Manhattan A. C.,mile event, by defeating W. C. Downs in 50g s. Remington received a small handicap over Downs. C. L. Nicol won the 3 mile walk, representing the Manhattan A. C., in 22 m. 12 s. R. K. Pritchard won the running high jump, representing the Manhattan A. C. The ground was very poor, and Pritchard won the championship by a jump of 5 ft. 8 in.

National Athletic Club-The boxing tournament of this organization was held at the Palace Rink on October 9 and 11. The bouts were well contested. The winners are K. Hogan, National A. C., in the bantam weight class; B. Mullins, West Side A. C., in feather weight; John McTiernan, Peerless A. C., special 125 pound class; Frank Day, New Jersey A. C., in light weight class; and P. Cahill, Scottish-American A. Č., in the middle weight class. The first annual games were held at Ridgewood Park on July 5. The events were well contested, although the ground was not in good condition. 100 yards handicap run, wou by T. I. Lee, N. A. C.; time, 101 S.; W. C. Dohm, N. Y. A. C., 1 yard, 2, and F. M. C., 3. 880 yards novice race, won by F. Barnard. Acorn A. A.; time, 57 m. s.; H. W. St. John, Jr., Ætna A. C., 2; F. J. Crawford, Acorn A. A., 3. The time given for this event is probably an error on the part of the timekeepers. One mile run, won by E. Hjertsberg, N. J. A. C., 35 yards, in 4 m. 14 s. W. W. Kuhlke, Prospect Harriers, with a handicap of 50 yards, ran 2 and W. S. French, N. Y. A. C., 70 yards, 3. One mile walk, H. Hjertsberg, N. J. A. C., captured first prize in the questionable time of 6 m 32 s. He had a handicap of 30 s.

W. W. Scott, New York A. C., walked 2 and F. Walker, Pastime A. C., 3. Running high jump was won by J. T. Fitzgerald, Clinton A. C., 5 in., by clearing the bar at 5 ft. 5 in. Putting the 16 pound shot, Geo. R. Gray, N. Y. A. C., put the weight 46 ft. 1 in. Gray's put is one inch above the best record, but on a careful examination it was found that the shot used was short in weight. The put does not stand as a record.

Polytechnic Athletic AssociationThe thirteenth annnal spring games were held May 9 at Washington Park. The results were as follows: 100 yard-run won by W. W Buttle, time, 113 s. 200 yard run won by Cowperwaith in 26 s., Hurst, 2. Running high jump, Van Cleef. 1, 5 ft. 1 in. Putting 12 pound shot, McKay, 1, 27 ft. 10 in. 440 yards run, Wingate, 1, 1 min. s.; Burt, 2. Throwing 12 pound hammer, McKay, 73 ft. 11 in. Half mile run, Russell, 2 min. 433 s. Wade, 2. Standing broad jump, Garlick, 1,8 ft. 7 in., Duff, 2. Runningbroad jump, Duff, 1, 16 ft. 11 in. Thomas, 2, 16 ft. 4 in. One mile walk won by Wade. No time given.
