This book lays out the context for an on-going populist farmers movement, still alive and kicking today. This movement is really a global one of self-determination and environmental activism. The book carefully maps out the relationships between farmer organizations. It was helpful to better understand the issues they addressed at the time, the historical connection between them, and learn more about why most of the organizations, save Farmers Union, no longer exist.
