Industrial Commission

Resolved, That, subject to the approval of the Governor, the classification of positions in the Exempt Class in the office of the Industrial Commission be and hereby is amended by adding thereto the words, "first assistant counsel; one assistant counsel," competitive or non-competitive examination for said positions having been found to be not practicable.

Superintendent of the Poor, Westchester County

Resolved, That, subject to the approval of the Governor, the classification of positions in the Exempt Class, Westchester county service, be and hereby is amended by striking out: "In the office of the Superintendent of the Poor: one keeper; one matron; two chaplains; one secretary," and substituting in lieu thereof: "In the office of the Commissioner of Charities and Corrections: one secretary; two chaplains," competitive or non-competitive examination for these positions having heretofore been found to be not practicable, the position of keeper being transferred to the Competitive Class and the title changed to Superintendent of the Almshouse.

Resolved, That, subject to the approval of the Governor, the classification of positions in the Non-Competitive Class be and hereby is amended by striking out, "In the office of the Superintendent of the Poor, Westchester County: one assistant matron; one woman attendant; one senior interne; one junior interne; head nurse; nurse; hospital attendant," and substituting in lieu thereof, "In the office of the Commissioner of Charities and Corrections, Westchester county: matron, almshouse; one assistant matron; one nursery matron; one hospital matron; one senior interne; one junior interne; one house physician; the head nurse; supervising night nurse; nurse," competitive examination for said positions having been found to be not practicable. University of the State of New York

Resolved, That, subject to the approval of the Governor, the classification of positions in the Exempt Class in the Department of Education, University of the State of New York, be and hereby is amended by striking out the words, "chief of division of administration," competitive examination for said position being deemed practicable.

Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department Resolved, That, subject to the approval of the Governor, the classification of positions in the Exempt Class in the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department, be and hereby is amended by adding thereto the words, one confidential stenographer," competitive or non-competitive examination for said position having been found to be not practicable.

Resolved, That, subject to the approval of the Governor, the classification of positions in the Exempt Class in the office of the Comptroller be amended by striking out the words, "private secretary to the Comptroller," and substituting in lieu thereof the words, "secretary to the Comptroller," for the purpose of changing title to conform with that given in the appropriation bill.

Resolved, That, subject to the approval of the Governor, the classification of positions in the Exempt Class be and hereby is amended as follows, the positions eliminated being obsolete:

In the office of the Conservation Commission:

Strike out "confidential stenographer to the commissioner; five confidential agents," and substitute in lieu thereof "three confidential agents."

Strike out:

"In the office of the Treaty of Ghent Celebration Commission: The secretary."

In the Insurance Department:

Strike out "three deputy superintendents; ten confidential investigators; five inspectors of safety devices; the cashier; one confidential clerk; cashier in the liquidation bureau," and substitute in lieu thereof "two deputy superintendents; two confidential investigators."

In the Prison Department:

Strike out "the electrician and his assistant for the purpose of electrocution."

Strike out:

"In each state hospital and charitable institution: The treasurer for each state charitable institution."

Department of Public Buildings

Resolved, That, subject to the approval of the Governor, the classification of positions in the Non-Competitive Class in the Department of Public Buildings be and hereby is amended by striking out the words: "tin and coppersmith; boiler scaler; plumber's helper; machinist; locksmith," and substituting in lieu thereof the words: "machinist and locksmith," the positions eliminated being obsolete.

Public Service Commission, Second District

Resolved, That, subject to the approval of the Governor, the classification of positions in the Exempt Class in the office of the Public Service Commission for the Second District, be and hereby is amended by striking out the word, "statistician," and substituting in lieu thereof the words, "chief of the division of statistics and accounts," said change to take effect July 1, 1917.

Agricultural Experiment Station, Geneva

Resolved, That, subject to the approval of the Governor, the classification of positions in the Non-Competitive Class at the Agricultural Experiment Station, Geneva, be and hereby is amended by striking out the word, "agriculturist," and substituting in lieu thereof the words, "agriculturist and superintendent of labor," in order that the title may be appropriate to the duties performed and agree with the title carried in the appropriation bill. Bridge and Tunnel Commission

Resolved, That, subject to the approval of the Governor, the classification of positions in the Exempt Class in the office of the State Bridge and Tunnel Commission be and hereby is amended by striking out the words, "the assistant secretary," said position being obsolete.

Bronx Parkway Commission

Health Officer, Port of New York

Resolved, That, subject to the approval of the Governor, the classification of positions in the Exempt Class in the office of the Health Officer, Port of New York, be and hereby is amended by striking out the words, "six boat captains," and substituting in lieu thereof the words, "five boat captains;" and striking out the words, "six firemen of boats," and substituting in lieu thereof the words, "five firemen of boats," one position of captain and one position of fireman of boat being obsolete.

Institute for the Study of Malignant Disease
