The German battle cruiser Moltke was one of the ships which made the daring raid on the English coast at Scarborough, The blow sent recruits to the English army and navy, for it struck fear into the hearts of the people. The shores had been immune to attack for so long that the mental effect of the attack was staggering. But in the raid of January 24th the Moltke was baffled. This formidable cruiser was a member of the squadron so successfully intercepted by Vice Admiral Beatty.

The "Peg O' My Heart" company, which was playing in Chicago, took a day or two off and carried their scenery to the Illinois State Penitentiary at Joliet. The play was performed for the benefit of the prisoners, and the charitable instincts of the actors were satisfied.
