Typhoid Fever. Many physicians believe that ty phoid fever cannot be aborted. Other physicians know by experience that it can be aborted, and that the agent to accomplish this result is that strictly ethical preparation known as Viskolein. "The abortive properties which it possesses evidently lie in the complete inoculation of the blood with an antiseptic that will render the blood an unfertile field for the propagation of germs or the growth of disease ferments." D., Chicago: In Stomach, "I have prescribed Allouez Magnesia Water for the past two years in my practice, and with entire satisfaction. Liver and Kidney affections its action has been all that could be desired. The most remarkable results have been obtained from its use in Chronic Rheumatic Gout, Diabetes and Bright's Disease-the best I have ever had from the use of any remedial agent for these very fatal diseases Prof. CLIFFORD MITCHELL, A. M., M. D., Chicago, in the "However skeptical, I could hardly close my eyes to the results P. O'KEEF, M. D., Menominee, Mich. : "In July, 1892, after continued indicated treatment, including a milk diet, and consultation, as a last resort I prescribed Allouez alone, in the case of a young man twenty-two years old, suffering from Bright's Disease (acute parenchymatous nephritis) and the prompt results obtained were extremely gratifying. When placed on the water the kidneys were enlarged and very tender, and could be seen outlining the sides and the front of the abdomen. The urine was heavily loaded with albumen, tube casts and broken down tissue, having a specific gravity of 1008, and excretion amounted only to 6 to 8 ounces in twenty-four hours. After a few days' use of the water the passage of the urine increased rapidly to 90 ounces in twenty-four hours, with specific gravity at 1014. The urine gradually became clearer, and in about two weeks the quantity passed in twenty-four hours decreased from 90 to 60 ounces, and specific gravity became normal. Two months afterward the microscope revealed neither tube casts or blood. "The patient entirely recovered, married several years ago, and his good health today prompts my presenting these facts now, six years later. Have often used Allouez since in cases of Bright's, Diabetes, Rheumatic Gout and renal derangements generally, and results have been such that my confidence in its therapeutic value is deep seated."
