CHAPTER 73.

AN ACT for the relief of George W. Davis.

WHEREAS, On the 19th day of April, 1888, George W. Davis was employed by the state of Nebraska as assistant engineer at the insane asylum located at Lincoln, Nebraska, and so continued as such assistant engineer up to the 5th day of February, 1889, at which time, and whilst so acting as such assistant engineer, the boiler used in said insane asylum, on which boiler and engine said Davis was acting as assistant engineer, the boiler of same exploded, and this, without any negligence or carelessness on the part of said Davis, and that said explosion of said boiler burned and wounded said Davis in different parts of his body, by blowing coal soot into his face, badly disfiguring same, and by burning him on the legs and arms; that his right eye was injured so badly that since said injury he has been gradually losing the sight of said eye; that said explosion also caused internal injuries, of which injuries he is now and has been suffering from since said injury; that said injuries received by said Davis at said time, caused by said explosion of said boiler, has physically incapacitated said Davis for life, and that he was damaged in the sum of three thousand five hundred ($3,500) dollars:

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of
Nebraska:

SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of any money in the treasury of the state of Nebraska, not otherwise appropriated, the sum of three thousand five hundred ($3,500) dollars for the payment of said claim for damages.

SEC. 2. The auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and directed to draw his warrant upon the state treasurer for the sum of three thousand five hundred ($3,500) dollars in favor of said George W. Davis, for the payment of said claim. Approved March 31, 1891.

CHAPTER 74,

AN ACT for the relief of Anna E. Norin and Marietta Norin.

PREAMBLE.

WHEREAS, On the fifth day of February, 1889, Jacob Norin, while in the discharge of his duties as chief engineer at the Lincoln hospital for the insane at Lincoln, Nebraska, was so severely injured by the explosion of one of the boilers used in connection with said institution that on said fifth day of February he died from his said injuries so received; and

WHEREAS, Said explosion was not caused by any fault, negligence, or carelessness on the part of said Jacob Norin, and he was without blame in the matter; and

WHEREAS, Said Jacob Norin left surviving him

his widow, Anna E. Norin, and an only child, Marietta Norin: Therefore

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of
Nebraska :

For the relief

SEC. 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of Anna E of the general fund of the state of Nebraska, to Marietta Norin. Anna E. Norin and Marietta Norin, her daughter, the sum of three thousand five hundred ($3,500) dollars for the payment of said claim for damages accruing to said Anna E. Norin and Marietta Norin by reason of the death of said Jacob Norin as aforesaid.

SEC. 2. The auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and directed to draw his warrant upon the state treasurer for the sum of one thousand seven hundred and fifty ($1,750) dollars in favor of Anna E. Norin for the payment of her interest in said claim, and the auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and directed to draw his warrant upon the state treasurer for the sum of one thousand seven hundred and fifty ($1,750) dollars in favor of the guardian of said Marietta Norin, upon proper proof to said auditor that said guardian has been appointed as by law required.

SEC. 3. Whereas an emergency exists, this act Emergency. shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 75.

For the relief of Lavena Turner.

AN ACT for the relief of Lavena Turner.

WHEREAS, On the 9th day of September, 1890, Lavena Turner while in the employ of the state of Nebraska met with an accident, by means of which the said Lavena Turner lost her hand and is crippled for life, as well as her health permanently broken; and

WHEREAS, That said Lavena Turner, from the effect of said accident, is unable to earn her support at manual labor: Therefore

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of
Nebraska:

SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of the general fund, out of any money not otherwise appropriated, the sum of two thousand ($2,000) dollars for the relief of Lavena Turner.

SEC. 2. The auditor of public accounts is . hereby authorized and directed to draw his warrant on the general fund of the state of Nebraska for the sum of two thousand ($2,000) dollars in favor of said Lavena Turner for the payment of said damages.

CHAPTER 76.

AN ACT to correct the original plat of the city of Lincoln.

WHEREAS, The original plat of the city of Lincoln in dedicating section twenty-six (26) and part of section twenty-five (25), township ten (10) north, range seven (7) east, of the sixth (6th) P. M., platted said sections to the south section line; and

WHEREAS, By said plat "A" street of said city from First (1st) to Seventeenth (17th) varies from one hundred and five (105 ft.) to one hundred and twenty-two ft. (122 ft.) in width; and

WHEREAS, The legend of said plat failed to describe the said street of proper width, and by said failure to so describe a cloud is placed upon the title of said street: Now therefore,

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of
Nebraska:

That the board of public lands and buildings is Correcting hereby authorized and instructed to give a quit- Lincoln. claim deed of "A" street to the south boundary of said sections twenty-five (25) and twenty-six (26), town ten (10) north, range seven (7) east, of the sixth (6th) P. M., conveying the said real estate and all interest that the said state of Nebraska may have therein to the city of Lincon.
