PREFACE.

This Volume completes the sixteenth year of the "Insurance Digest." The same general plan adopted in preceding volumes has been followed in this one.

This Volume contains 803 cases, divided as follows:

[merged small][ocr errors][merged small][merged small][ocr errors][merged small][merged small][merged small][merged small]

In many of the cases the company was either a nominal party only, or was not involved at all. A summary of those cases in which the company was directly involved shows as follows:

Judgment for insured in trial court . . . 434
Judgment for company in trial court. . 195
Judgment for insured in upper court. . 310
Judgment for company in upper court. . 250

This Volume shows an unaccountable increase of 140 in the number of cases decided during the year 1903 over the preceding year.

In addition to the cases Digested, reference is made to four Leading Articles pertaining to Insurance in Legal Periodicals.

I have to thank Miss Goldie Scovell, of my office, and Mr. Irving Williams, of "Rough Notes," for assistance in the preparation of this Volume.
