The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, in the United States of America, on the 1st of June, A. D. 1825, had under its care fourteen Synods, viz:--I. The Synod of Genessee. II. I. The Synod of Genessee, contains the Presbyteries of 1. Niagara, 2. Genessee, 3. Rochester, 4. Ontario, and 5. Buffaloe.

II. The Synod of Geneva contains the Presbyteries of 1. Bath, 2. Geneva, 3. Cayuga, 4. Onondaga.

III. The Synod of Albany contains the Presbyteries of 1. Londonderry, 2. Troy, 3. Columbia, 4. Albany, 5. Otsego, 6. Oneida, 7. Champlain, 8. St. Lawrence, 9. Ogdensburgh, and 10. Oswego.

IV. The Synod of New York contains the Presbyteries of 1. Long Island, 2. Hudson, 3. North River, 4. New York, and 5. New York Second.

V. The Synod of New Jersey contains the Presbyteries of 1. Newark, 2. Elizabethtown, 3. New Brunswick, 4. Newtown, and 5. Susquehanna.

VI. The Synod of Philadelphia contains the Presbyteries of 1. Philadelphia, 2. New Castle, 3. Carlisle, 4. Huntingdon, 5. Northumberland, 6. Baltimore, 7. District of Columbia, and S. Lewes.*

VII. The Synod of Pittsburg, contains the Presbyteries of 1. Redstone, 2. Ohio, 3. Hartford, 4. Erie, 5. Washington, 6. Steubenville, 7. Alleghany.

The Second Presbytery of Philadelphia, which belonged to this Synod in 1824, "unanimously agreed to suspend their functions as a Presbytery, from and after the 9th day of April, 1825—and have granted testimonials to their Members, Licentiates and Candidates, to become connected with such Presbyteries belonging to the General Assembly as they may desire."

VIII. The Synod of Ohio, contains the Presbyteries of 1. Chillicothe, 2. Lancaster, 3. Miami, 4. Columbus, 5. Richland, 6. Cincinnati, and 7. Athens.

IX. The Synod of the Western Reserve contains the Presbyteries of 1. Grand River, 2. Portage, and 3. Huron.

X. The Synod of Virginia contains the Presbyteries of 1. Hanover, 2. Lexington, and 3. Winchester.

XI. The Synod of Kentucky contains the Presbyteries of 1. Transylvania, 2. West-Lexington, 3. Muhlenburg, 4. Louisville, 5. Ebenezer, and 6. Salem.

XII. The Synod of Tennessee contains the Presbyteries of 1. Abingdon, 2. Union, 3. West Tennessee, 4. Shiloh, 5. Mississippi, and 6. Missouri.

XIII. The Synod of North Carolina contains the Presbyteries of 1. Orange, 2. Fayetteville, 3. Concord, 4. Mecklenburg, and 5. Bethel.

XIV. The Synod of South Carolina and Georgia contains the Presbyteries of 1. South Carolina, 2. Hopewell, 3. Charleston Union, 4. Harmony, 5. Georgia, 6. Alabama, and 7. North Alabama.

The Presbyteries above enumerated amount to EIGHTY-ONE, and from the reports of 1824 and 1825, they have under their care 1772 Congregations, 1080 Ministers, 176 Licentiates, and 196 Candidates for licensure. In 1121 Congregations which have reported on the subject, there are 122,382 Communicants, of whom 10,431 were added in the year preceding May 1824, and 9098 in the last year.Of course, the accessions of communicants were less the last year, than the year preceding, by 1,333. How many communicants there are in the 667 Congregations which have not reported their members in full communion, the Stated Clerk is unable to say; but they would doubtless average at 70 each, which would give 46,690, and make a grand total of 169,072.

During the two last years in 902 Congregations 22,672 persons were baptized, of whom 3926 were adults, and 18,746 infants. If we suppose that the Ministers in the 886 Congregations which have not reported on baptism, have baptized only half so many, on an average, in each congregation, as have been baptized in those congregations which have reported, then we must add 12,246 to the cases of baptism for the two last years, making a grand total for that period, of 34,918 adults and infants.

From the Reports of Synods and Presbyteries for May, 1824, and May, 1825, the following Statistical Tables have been compiled. The numbers for the two past years, which have been returned, are collated into one amount, under the several heads; and those Presbyteries and Congregations which have sent up only one report on any item within the two years, are distinguished by an asterisk affixed to the same. The churches which are returned as vacant are marked with a V. following their names, but in numerous instances the Presbyteries have not designated them as such.
