every instance I have directed my patients to procure the homoeopathic mother tincture. The preparation usually kept and sold in retail drug stores I have not found reliable. I use the homoeopathic preparation, but not in homoeopathic doses. Try it and be convinced of its merits.Dr. W. H. DeWitt, Lancet Clinic.

Dr. C. A. Wilson of San Antonio, Texas has had personal experience with Koch's Tuberculinum over a period of eight weeks. At the beginning his temperature was 102 de grees. The treatment of one milligram of the diluted lymph was given every second day, the dose being increased by one milligram each time until the full dose of ten milligrams was being given. Improvement was noticed about the third week and at the end of the eighth week the highest daily temperature was 99 degrees at 2 P. M. and dropped to normal an hour or so later. He had increased thirteen pounds in weight and felt constantly well.

OXYGEN TREATMENT OF CHRONIC ULCERS.-Dr. Chas A. L. Reed, of Cincinnatti, attended the British the British

Medical Association in London, July 30th-August 3d, 1895. In his letter to the Cincinnati Lancet Clinic, August 24, he says: One of the most

interesting demonstrations was that by Dr. Stoker, of Dublin. It consisted in the application of oxygen gas to the treatment of chronic ulcers. The treatment consists in the incarceration of the affected part in a chamber charged with oxygen during several hours of each day. The ingenious mechanism and a number of illustrative cases were presented. Dr. Reed examined a case of large annular ulcer of the leg, which had defied all sorts of treatment for years in the London hospitals, which was completely cured by the new treatment in two months. Other cases no less startling were present. One interesting test case was that of a woman with a very large ulcer on each legeach practically like the other. One was being subjected to the modern bichloride treatment; the other leg to the oxygen treatment. The former-the one being treated by bichloride-was free from all germ life, none being demonstrated by culture processes; while the latter-the ulcer being treated with oxygen gas-abounded in practically all germs of the pathogenic variety. Yet the latter ulcer was healing with twice the rapidity of the former.

This fact would indicate that the

oxygen is not a germicide, and that the presence of pathogenic germs in an ulcer is not inimical to the pro

cess of repair.

Micajah's UTERINE WAFERS.

A REMEDY FOR THE LOCAL TREATMENT OF DISEASES PECULIAR TO WOMEN, AS

Chronic Inflammation and Engorgement of the Womb, Ulceration, Leucorrhoea Irregular, Suppressed, and Painful Menstruation, Prolapsus, and the Irregularities Incidental to Change of Life.

Applied in the manner directed:-The remedy is quickly absorbed and acts by stimulating the
Hypogastric Plexus of nerves, and by this means restores and maintains the healthy functions of the
organs to which this plexus of nerves is distributed,
SHONGO, N. Y., Aug. 3, 1891.

Leucorrhoea.-I gave your wafers a trial in three cases of Leucorrhoea, placing three or four in
the hands of each patient with necessary directions, and with the most happy results. They act just
as you claimed they would, and are the best thing in the treatment of Leucorrhoea I have yet found,
and I would cheerfully recommend them to the medical profession, A. A. ELLIOTT, M. D.
MONTREAL, CANADA, Dec. 28, 1891.
Micajah's Wafers versus the Knife.-A short time ago I had occasion to try your medicated
uterine wafers in the case of a woman suffering from prolapsus uteri with engorgement and severe
pains, very much discouraged after consulting several physicians, one of which wanted to perform
an operation. I thought I would try your wafers; so I did, and am happy to state with best results,
and intend to try them again, as if I had not seen myself this case, I could hardly believe it.
O. RAYMOND, M. D.

The price of a Box, sufficient for three months' treatment, is $1.00.
To physicians samples of the Wafers will be mailed free on application.

HE one great characteristic of all varieties of neuralgia is debility of the nervous system, and whatever tends to produce structural or functional enfeeblements of the nerves induces neuralgia, hence all the causes inducing loss of nerve power may be cited as causes of neuralgia. This affection, when not directly the result of some physical cause interfering with the integrity of the nerve system in which the pain is situated, is invariably due to loss of nerve power. Its very existence is evidence of deficient energy. The remote factor may be malaria, syphilis, rheumatism, gout, or any other cause capable of devitalizing the organism, and as a consequence that of the nerves also. Our remedial measures should therefore be directed principally to improving the nutrition of the nervous system generally, and to the removal of any constitutional taint that may be present. The first indication is filled by CELERINA and a generous diet. In facial neuralgia and brow ache it should be administered in connection with quinine, or other tonic remedy, and if malarial influence be suspected, full doses of some reliable anti-malarial remedy should be given. The CELERINA treatment is also applicable to sciatic and spinal neuralgias. Neuralgia in men is frequently an expression of loss of nerve power, and the direct consequence of dissipation and excesses of various kinds, but over-work and intense intellectual exertion will also produce it. Where the pain is located is of little moment, the treatment should be general. In these cases CELERINA seldom fails to give relief. Women suffer more frequently and more intensely from neuralgia than men. They are liable to be affected by all the causes which induces it in men, besides the derangements in health associated with menstruation-menorrhea especially. Hyperfecundation (rapid child-bearing), frequent miscarriage, hemorrhage, prolonged lactation and changes occurring at the climacteric period of life, all tend to induce a neuralgic condition of the nerves. The general treatment should be directed to the removal of the cause whenever this is possible. In these cases CELERINA, combined with ALETRIS CORDIAL will be found to exercise a magical influence.

The Success of Peptogenic Milk Powder

in the feeding of sick babies has led many mothers to infer that the Peptogenic Milk Powder is especially designed for sick babies.

On the contrary, however, the Peptogenic Milk Powder is peculiarly designed for the preparation of the exclusive food of an infant during the entire nursing period. The Milk prepared with the Peptogenic Milk Powder has the digestibility of mothers' milk and is thus obviously the proper food for the healthy infant and the most robust infant. It is a pity to deprive a good, healthy infant of the benefits of such a food by relying upon it only for the rescue of infants of naturally feeble digestion, or infants who have been made ill by the use of unsuitable foods.

Fairchild's Peptogenic Powder is the one means of compensating for the deprivation of mother's milk. Fairchild Bros., & Foster, New York.

A NEW BLOOD CORPUSCLE.

When Hayem announced the discovery of a third corpuscle, there was great enthusiasm among all biologists. When he later announced the relation of these corpuscles to the coagulation of the blood, the interest was greatly deepened. But when Laveran published to the world his discovery of a parasite in the blood of persons suffering from malaria, the very climax was reached. It was far greater than the discovery of a new blood corpuscle; for it told of a parasite which developed and multiplied within the red corpuscle, causing untold misery and large loss of life. We need no longer say we think a patient has malaria; for it is now possible, thanks to Laveran and the microscope, to give a positive answer. Now we know why quinine has such controlling power in this disease; it destroys the parasite and thus removes the cause. As the heel of man shall crush the serpent's head, so, definitely and positively does the alkaloid of Peruvian bark crush out the life of the malarial parasite. But how can one describe the aches and pains which form a part of a malarial attack. Shall we give an opiate and quiet the pain at the expense of locking up the secretion of the body? There appears to be but one rational method: Give a remedy, if there be one which will quiet the pain without affecting in the slightest degree any of the secretory or excretory organs. Such a remedy exists in antikamnia. Antikamnia and quinine, therefore, are the two remedies which science has selected for the treatment of malaria and all malarial conditions. These are now prepared in the form of tablets, each containing 21⁄2 grains of Antikamnia and 21⁄2 grains of Sulph. Quinine.
