Now, when originally written or transcribed from the note-book, why should this not have been translated into the English language? It were quite as easy to write, and certainly more easy to read it, if written somewhat as follows:

CASE 1. On January 9, 1895, I was called to see A. B., twenty-three years of age, of Irish parentage, who had been ill for 10 days. His temperature was 102.5 degrees, the pulserate 90, the respirations 30 to the minute. Albumin was present in the urine. The man's mental condition was good, but there were great physical weakness and loss of appe

tite. He was given a cold bath, and the usual medicines were ordered. On January 10th, the morning temperature was 101.4 degrees, etc.— Medical News.

THE FORM OF ELECTRICITY BEST ADAPTED TO THE RELIEF OF PAIN. -Dr. A. D. Rockwell, in a clinical lecture (Neurasthenia vs. Lithæmia, International Clinics, Vol. III, 4th Series), says, in speaking of the treatment of a case of neurasthenia : "I soon found that general faradization was more serviceable in his case than any other method of application, and that the faradic current of tension wouid relieve his pains when other forms of electricity failed." In differentiating between the two forms of dynamic electricity for the

relief of pain, I have often noticed that when the parts were sensitive to pressure the galvanic current was the most effective, and when pressure was grateful and afforded relief the faradic current seemed to be indicated. In this case the harder the pressure the greater the relief to the head pain, and during the paroxysms of pain it was possible to apply a strength of current (faradic) over the whole surface of the head that was absolutely unbearable when the paroxysm had passed away. The relief these strong currents afforded was very great.

A NEW AND DISTINGUISHING SIGN OF LATENT ANEURYSM OF THE AORTA.-This sign, according to W. C. Glasgow (New York Med. Journal September 15th, 1894), is the pres

ence of a systolic sound in the brachial artery, synchronous with the cardiac systole, and sometimes accompanied by an arterial murmur. When this sound can be heard, and aortic regurgitation can be excluded, a positive diagnosis of aneurysm can be made, even in the absence of all other signs or symptoms. The sound is due to the rapid tension of the walls of the only partially-filled artery, due to the sudden impact of blood at the heart's systole. In pure aortic regurgitation the sign is always present; in two out of six of the reported cases aneurysm, the diagnosis was made from this sign alone four months before the appearance of the recognised physical signs. In all six cases the systolic sound in the brachial artery was present; five were intrathoracic aneurysms and one abdominal.

MEDICATED

UTERINE WAFERS.

A REMEDY FOR THE LOCAL TREATMENT OF DISEASES PECULIAR TO WOMEN, AS

Chronic Inflammation and Engorgement of the Womb, Ulceration, Leucorrhoea Irregular, Suppressed, and Painful Menstruation, Prolapsus, and the Irregularities -Incidental to Change of Life.

Applied in the manner directed:-The remedy is quickly absorbed and acts by stimulating the
Hypogastric Plexus of nerves, and by this means restores and maintains the healthy functions of the
organs to which this plexus of nerves is distributed.
SHONGO, N. Y., Aug. 3, 1891.
Leucorrhoea.-I gave your wafers a trial in three cases of Leucorrhoea, placing three or four in
the hands of each patient with necessary directions, and with the most happy results. They act just
as you claimed they would, and are the best thing in the treatment of Leucorrhoea I have yet found,
and I would cheerfully recommend them to the medical profession, A. A. ELLIOTT, M. D.
MONTREAL, CANADA, Dec. 28, 1891.
Micajah's Wafers versus the Knife.-A short time ago I had occasion to try your medicated
uterine wafers in the case of a woman suffering from prolapsus uteri with engorgement and severe
pains, very much discouraged after consulting several physicians, one of which wanted to perform
an operation. I thought I would try your wafers; so I did, and am happy to state with best results,
and intend to try them again, as if I had not seen myself this case, I could hardly believe it.
O. RAYMOND, M. D.

The price of a Box, sufficient for three months' treatment, is $1.00.
To physicians samples of the Wafers will be mailed free on application.
