STATE OF NEW-YORK,
IN ASSEMBLY, January 7, 1840.

Resolved, (if the Senate concur,) That the Secretary of State cause to be prepared and printed by the Printer to the State, annually hereafter, for the use of the Senate and Assembly, a book, to be denominated a Manual; which shall contain the Constitution of this State and of the United States, diagrams of the Senate and Assembly Chambers, extracts from Statutes, and statistical and other information of the same description with that contained in the books heretofore procured by the Clerks of the two Houses respectively, with such other matter as may be deemed useful; and that he have the same bound in a pocket volume, and a copy thereof delivered within two weeks after the commencement of each session of the Legislature, and as much earlier as may be practicable, to each of the members and officers of the two Houses, and to each of the State officers who are entitled to copies of the Session Laws, with the name of such member or officer lettered on the cover; and also a map of the State, exhibiting the route of all canals and rail-roads that are finished, or in the course of construction; the necessary expense whereof shall be paid by the Treasurer, on the warrant of the Comptroller.
