PSALM XLII., 1.—As the hart pants after the waterbrooks, so panteth my soul for thee, O God.

2. For my soul thirsteth for God, yea, for the living God: when shall I come to appear before the presence of God?

3. My tears have been my meat day and night : while they daily say unto me, Where is now thy God?

4. Now when I think thereupon, I pour out my heart by myself. For I had gone forth most gladly with the people, and to lead them unto Jehovah's Temple in the voice of praise and gladness, as a people keeping holiday.

5. Why my soul art thou so vexed, and why art thou cast down in me? Trust thou in God! for I will yet give him great thanks for the help of his good countenance.

6. My God within me is my soul cast down: therefore will I remember thee at the mighty noise of the waters.

7. Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts all thy waves and all thy billows are gone over me.

8. The Lord hath commanded his kindness in the day time in the night did I sing of him and made my prayer to the God of my life.
