Cricket easily held its own during 1898. The annual visit of a team of foreign experts was filled by Captain P. F. Warner, with his eleven of crack English players, who in a series of eight matches.did not suffer defeat. In addition a Canadian eleven spent a fortnight in the United States, but did not fare so well. The annual match between the United States and Canada at Philadelphia resulted in defeat for the Kanucks, Of the local cricketers Team A of the N. J. A. C. demonstrated its superiority in the League with ease, while the Brooklyn Cricket Club captured the Association pennant for the second time. In the annual contest, League versus Association, the League scored a hollow victory.
