PREFACE.

With this volume (VOL. 7) the topic of "ALIGHTING FROM OR BOARDING CARS," etc., and the NEGLIGENCE OF CARRIERS OF PERSONS relating thereto is concluded. The volume includes all the cases upon the topic in the States of Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin, and the cases in the United States Supreme Court, Circuit Courts of Appeal and Circuit Courts, and a selection of cases in the District Courts of the United States.

The subject has been exhaustively treated as its importance demands, all the cases relating to personal injuries sustained while alighting from, or boarding Steam Railroads, Street Railroads, Steamboats, Ferryboats, Coaches, Cable, Horse and Electric Cars, in the courts of last resort in all the States and Territories and in the Federal Courts of the United States, together with a large selection of cases from the intermediate courts, being classified and chronologically arranged and reported in Volumes 2 to 7, inclusive, of this series of AMERICAN NEGLIGENCE CASES, together with notes of the English cases cited, and annotations. Other topics relating to NEGLIGENCE OF CARRIERS OF PERSONS will be treated in the next volume.

The Editor desires to acknowledge the able services and assistance of Mr. WALTER J. EAGLE in the preparation of this volume of AMERICAN NEGLIGENCE CASES.
