conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not less than five dollars nor more than twenty-five dollars for each offense, onehalf of which fine shall be paid to the person entering the complaint and one-half to the treasurer of the county for the benefit of the town where the offense is committed and the conviction is had, and in default of payment of such fine, such offender shall be imprisoned in the county jail of said county for a period of not less than five nor more than twenty-five days.

Section IV. This act shall take effect the first day of May eighteen hundred and ninety-four.

We do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an act duly passed and enacted by the board of supervisors of Schuyler county on the 28th day of November 1893 and of the whole thereof.

AN ACT for the further protection of game in the towns of Genesee and Clarksville, Allegany county, New York. Passed December 13th, 1893.

The board of supervisors of the county of Allegany, in pursu ance of the authority conferred by chapter 488 of the Laws of 1892, do hereby enact and resolve as follows:

Section 1. No person shall hunt or kill any woodcock or ruffed grouse, commonly called partridge, within the towns of Genesee and Clarksville, Allegany county, New York, for a period of three years from the first day of April 1894.

Sec. 2. No person shall kill or catch, or attempt to kill or catch any fish whatever in the streams known as Dodge's creek and

Bolivar creek or their tributaries, so far as the above-mentioned waters shall extend in the towns of Genesee and Clarksville, Allegany county, New York, for a period of three years from the first day of April, 1894.

Sec. 3. Any person violating any of the provisions of the foregoing sections of this act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine of twenty-five dollars for each offense, one-half to be paid to the person entering the complaint, and one-half thereof to the treas urer of the county of Allegany, for the benefit of the poor fund of said county; and in default of payment of such fine such offender shall be imprisoned in the county jail of said county for the period of twenty days.

Sec. 4. This act shall take effect on the first day of April, 1894.

AN ACT for the protection of fish, in the lake known as Scott's, in the town of Salem, Washington county, State of New York.

The board of supervisors of the county of Washington, at its annual session on the fourteenth day of December, 1893, under and in pursuance of the power and authority vested in said board by section 273 of chapter 488 of the Laws of 1892, known

as the game law, and the acts amendatory thereof, all the members of the board being present, and all voting in the affirmative, do enact the following law:

Section 1. No person or persons shall catch or kill by any device or in any manner whatsoever, in the water known and designated as Scott's lake, in the town of Salem, county of Washington, any fish whatsoever for a period of two years on and after the first day of May, 1894, under a penalty of twenty-five dollars for each and every offense, and costs of suit, to be sued for, recovered and paid over as provided by article 10, of chapter 488, of the Laws of 1892, and of the acts supplemental thereto and amendatory thereof.

Section 2. This act shall take effect on the first day of May, 1894.

AN ACT to preserve the fish in the brooks and lakes of the town of Stephentown, county of Rensselaer, and State of New York. The people of the county of Rensselaer, by its board of supervisors, by a two-thirds vote thereof, do enact as follows:

That on and between the first day of June, 1894, and the first day of June, 1896, no person shall take by any means whatsoever, from the waters in the town of Stephentown, county of

Rensselaer, and State of New York, any speckled trout or catch or kill or attempt to catch or kill any speckled or brook trout in said waters on and between saià dates. Any person offending against any of the provisions of this law shall be liable to a penalty of ten dollars for each and every speckled trout taken from said waters.

Adopted by the following vote:*

We, the undersigned, do hereby certify that the foregoing ordinance and amendment, thereto, was duly adopted, by the Rensselaer county board of supervisors, Dec. 11, 1893.

Mr. Winn presented the following game law, which was, on motion, received and ordered printed in the minutes:

AN ORDINANCE for the additional protection to, and further restriction for, the protection of birds, wild animals, game and fish, within the county of Rensselaer, in the State of New York. The board of supervisors of the county of Rensselaer, at their session, held at their rooms, in the city of Troy, in and for said county, on the 5th day of December, 1893, pursuant to the power vested in them by section 273, of article 12 of chapter 31, of the General Laws of 1892, of the State of New York, do ordain and enact as follows:

Section 1. Trout, close season. -Trout of any kind shall not be fished for, caught, killed or possessed within the limits of Rensselaer county, between the 1st day of August, in each year, and the 1st day of May following.

Sec. 2. Black and Oswego bass, close season.-Black bass or Oswego bass shall not be fished for, caught, killed or possessed within the limits of Rensselaer county, between the 1st day of January, in each year, and the 30th day of June following.
