Tonsillitis Scarlet Fever Diphtheria

Infection in these diseases enters through an inflamed throat. The neighboring lymph glands guard against the passage of toxines into the circulation. But just at this critical time they become engorged and need assistance.

ANTIPHLOGISTINE

permits of the continuous application of moist heat, the physical [rinciple of osmosis and the continuous stimulation of cutaneous reflexes, all of which tend to maintain the lood and lymph circula'ion in the affected part and to hasten the elimination of toxines.

The enlarged glands are depleted and the liability to Mastoiditis, Middleear and Laryngeal complications is lessened. Pain and sense of oppression are overcome, the patient experiences decided comfort and convalescence is materially hastened.

A Work That Does Justice to Canada

With the active co-operation and aid of its members and of the leading schools of Great Britain, the United States and Canada, the National Alumni (of London, Edinburgh and New York) is publishing a most useful work, covering the entire history of the world in a concise, entertaining and reliable form, in a manner heretofore considered impossible. Thousands of volumes have been searched and many articles have been especially written and translated in an effort to bring together, for the first time, the most brilliant work of the greatest historians, deliberately eliminating dry and unimportant details.

As a result of the scientific arrangement of the matter which this distinguished body of scholars has gathered together in the last four years, and with the aid of the thorough indices with which the work is equipped, one may find instantly and thoroughly enjoy

I. The best account ever written of any important event in the world's history.

II. The separate history of any civilized nation of ancient or modern times.

III. The life of any famous man or woman in history.

IV. The complete story of any great religious, political, educational, or every sociological movement which has influenced the development of man and his institutions.

Every event is presented as a complete and intensely interesting story without abridgment, and always in the language of whichever historian has given the world the most dramatic and instructive account of it. The guiding principle has been to select only such accounts as combine human interest with reliable instruction.

Each account is preceded by a brief introductory preface, carefully prepared by specialists. For instance, if the event has to do with the Canadian history, the preface is prepared by the Canadian historian, or professor of history most familiar with that particular subject. And the event itself is given in the language of whichever historian has excelled all others in the treatment of that topic. These little prefaces furnish just the information that the reader should have fresh in mind when reading the masterpiece before him and enable him to skip the thousands of dull pages with which the ordinary histories are burdened.

On all controversial questions of history each side is given, so that the reader may draw his own conclusions. It is believed that this special feature will appeal strongly to those who seek a broad-minded and liberal knowledge of the world's events.
