Undoubtedly the role played by the Chilean women was one of the most decisive factors in the fight against marxist oppression. They were the first to strive against totalitarianism which intended to take over our country, and they did rot cease in their efforts until they saw that the Nation was again treading the glorious paths which history has singled out for it.

These two illustrations show part of the multitude which filled the Alameda Bernardo O'Higgins in order to protest against the Allende Government and as a means of backing the trade unions strike against the marxist high-handedness and the lack of guarantees in order to work freely.

At that opportunity hundreds of thousands of women congregated at the gates of the Catholic University to say "ENOUGH" to Allende. However, he disregarded the voice of the people and only had ears for his follower's flatter. This is why he failed to understand the protest of thousands of men and women who observed the incressing difficulties to work, the growing hatred which poisoned the minds of hundreds of children, the luxury and corruption of the ruling class who squandered the meagre economic reserves of our country.

This meeting of the Chilean women took place on Wednesday September 5th, that is only one week before the Armed Forces, who had witnessed the increasing growth of tyranny, decided to take steps which must have been painful, but were undoubtedly necessary to put an end to miss. management, effrontery, demagogy and sectarism.

There can be no doubt that the women of Chile, of all ages and conditions, were the first to realize the crisis which affected our country. They were also the first to initiate the struggle to

EXHIBIT No. 3- Continued

"NO TO
TO CIVIL WAR"

One of the steadiest campaings wrought by Presidente Allende, aided and abetted by the abundant publicity of the Popular Unity, was that of accusing the opposition of leading the country towards CIVIL WAR. Journalists and heads of the opposition were accused of creating a climate favourable to civil war; on the other hand it was affirmed that some groups or rightist extremists were collecting arms to attack the President of the Republic.

Continuous raids in search of armament, by the totally infiltrated civil police, in the homes of trade union leaders, politicians and journalist, as well as in headquarters of opposition parties, produced negative results.

In the meantime the press of opposition began to discover circumstancial evidence to the effect that planes from Cuban and Russian airlines which came to Chile, carried aboard them misterious packages which apparently contained arms. This war denounced and the President of the Republic belied the charges and filed complaints against the newspapers which accused him.

The truth was finally discovered when the Military took over: Allende's Home in Tomas Moro not only contained great works of art and a luxury not in keeping with the underdeveloped condition our country had been led into, but differed widely from the self assumed "popular" character with which Mr. Allende chose to endow himself. In this same residence the Armed Forces found an arsenal sufficient to arm over 2.000 men. Among the firearms there were Russian rockets; heavy machine guns point 30 and point 50, machine and sub-machine guns, non-recoil cannons, bazookas etc., with sufficient ammunition to permit sustained gunfire for over 24 hours. All of this caused great commotion throughout the country. Yet these discoveries were not limited to Tomas Moro. The same happened in the Moneda Palace, where the President's office as well as the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs stood; also at El Cañaveral residence, which allegedly belonged to Mr. Allende's "Private Secretary". In the latter the Armed Forces also found a complete guerrilla training camp, large enough to hold 60 or more students. simultaneously, and a factory of bombs of highly explosive power.

In this manner, the citizenship have been made fully aware of the fact that Mr. Allende, despite his hypocritical complaints against "civil war", was preparing a mass massacre of the opposition as a means of installing a tyranny following the Russian or Cuban patterns.

The following pages show a small part of the armament found by members of the Armed Forces in the searches of presidential homes and headquarters of political parties of the Popular Unity.
