Each volume is bound in a loose-leaf binder in order that pages of new material may be inserted. The publishers issue to subscribers "not less than 250 revised pages each six months in March and October". The purpose of the new pages is to keep the encyclopedia up-to-date.

A good, standard encyclopedia, well proportioned, and well arranged for convenience. Volume 24 is an outline of courses of study and reading, while volume 25 which is supplementary, is a concise history of the world war.

Volume II is a cyclopedia of proper names; volume 12, an atlas. The dictionary was revised in 1909 and the results incorporated as supplements to the different volumes. Besides giving the origin and derivation of English words this dictionary indicates the changes in meaning and use since the tenth century. These variations are represented by examples of how the words were formerly used. This is the best dictionary for students of the English language.
