compiler of this volume, it would be a work of much difficulty to identify them with their respective authors. The object has been to produce not only a Bible History, but a preparatory expositor of that history from reliable sources.. As a Class-book, or family reading book, for young persons somewhat advanced, it will be found complete in itself, combining all that variety of interest which the subject allows. In schools, where the author's "Reading Book of Bible History" (Gradation III.) is used, it may be adopted as the Manual, enabling Teachers to impart sound information, and saving the time and trouble required for reference to more voluminous works. The POEMS are chiefly on the historical subjects of the sections, and it is believed that they will aid in winning the attention of young readers to those subjects.
