SCRIPTURE CHARADE.

XIV.

THE dumb ass speaks in accents clear,
To stay thee in thy mad career;

Thy feet the temple's courts did seek,
Thy tongue of Christ's Redemption speak.

Belov'd of Christ-this lot was thine;
Twice raised from death by power Divine;
Rebellious prince !-rash counsellor,
Thy death like his must we deplore.

Now see thy plains by Israel spread,
Thy king is filled with fear and dread;
He seeks their curse in his distress,
But HE who came to curse did bless.

Poetry.

"THE sheep hear His voice......and follow Him, for they know His voice." JOHN X. 3, 4.

WHAT Will you say to Jesus? He speaks with gentle tone,

And lovingly invites you now, to stand around His throne;

With tender smile He beckons on, the little ones to tell Of pastures green and beautiful, where all His lambs may dwell.

What will you say to Jesus? He calls the lambs that know,

The still small voice, that guides His flock where they may safely go;

He sees the sheep that wander oft in deserts bleak and cold,

And longs to have them gathered in, and sheltered in His fold.

What will you say to Jesus? He stands and pleads with you,

For one whom He can ne'er forget, the poor and outcast Jew;

He says of those that Zion love, He will remember them,

And peace be to the little ones, who love Jerusalem.

What will you say to Jesus? A little while and He Will come again, that where He is, His children too may be;

That, to the lambs who know His voice, a home may then be given,

And they shall shine for evermore, as glittering stars in heaven.

THE REPORT.

THERE are few who love a good cause who are not anxious to know how far God is prospering it. They look forward to the time when the Report is to be read, in order that they may know what has been done. It is true that the Bible shews us that while we plant and water, God alone can give the increase. Yet the inquiry will always arise," Has the great Lord of the vineyard made it fruitful? Have souls been won to Christ?”

And certainly there is much to bid us hope and be of good courage. The Lord is giving His blessing. Many Jews believe in Jesus, and are baptized in His name. Many more there are who believe, but who have not yet been baptized. Never was there a time at which the Jews read so diligently the New Testament, and know so
