commend to thy care and blessing the President of the United States, the Governor of this State, and all others in authority. May they have wisdom to discern, and firmness to pursue the true interests of this people; may they employ all their influence to promote peace and virtue; and under their, government may justice and judgment run down as waters, and righteousness mighty stream. Endue with grace and clothe with godliness the ministers of religion. May they do honour to thy truth in their public services and their private conduct; and wilt thou so direct and bless them, both in their preaching and living, that they may save themselves, and those who hear them. We beseech thee to bless all seminaries of learning, all governors and instructers of youth, all patrons and promoters of sound literature and knowledge; and grant that all the means and opportunities of mental, moral, and religious advancement which are enjoyed among us, may be thankfully acknow

ledged and diligently improved.

Universal Parent and Governort; be merciful to the whole race of man ; enlighten all who sit in darkness; send forth a spirit of peace and good will; restrain the violence of unreasonable men; may no weapon formed against the rights of mankind prosper; multiply the patterns of christian virtue and the instruments of beneficence; direct all flesh to the knowledge of thy Son; and may thy kingdom come and thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; which we ask as disciples of Jesus Christ. Amen.

CONCLUDING PRAYER.

ETERNAL and all see ing God, we thy creatures sink into nothing before thy supreme majesty; we feel our weakness; we acknowledge our folly; we repeatedly bewail our sins; thee only we adore with awful veneration; thee we thank with fervent zeal ; to thy power we humbly submit; of thy goodness we devoutly implore protection; on thy wisdom we

firmly and cheerfully rely. Whenever we address thee, O Father, if our prayers are unwise, pity us; if they are presumptuous, pardon us; if acceptable to thee, grant them, all powerful God; and as we now express submission to thy decrees, adore thy providence, and bless thy dispensations, so, in that future state, to which we reverently hope thy good

The Service may commence with the following Psalm; after which the Person officiating may isse such parts of the common Morning or Evening Prayer, as he shall judge proper.

PSALM 93.

THE Lord is King, and hath put on glorious apparel, and girded himself with strength.

He hath made the world so sure, that it cannot be ! moved.

Ever since the world began, hath thy throne been prepared; thou art from everlasting.

The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their

waves.

The waves of the sea are mighty, and rage horribly; but yet the Lord, who dwelleth on high, is mightier.

Thy testimonies, O Lord, are very sure, holiness becometh thine house for ever.

After the Collect for the Day may be used the following Prayer.

O ETERNAL Lord God, who alone spreadest out the heavens, and rulest the raging of the sea; who hast compassed the waters with bounds, until day and night come to an end; be pleased to receive into thine almighty and most gracious protection, the persons of us thy servants, who now call upon thy name from the bosom of the mighty

deep. Borne on the surface of a changing ele ment, and exposed to the vicissitudes of the incon stant skies, may we always feel ourselves in the presence and merciful care of that infinite and holy God, who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with a span. Preserve us, we pray thee, from the dangers of the sea; from shipwreck; from fire; from the wrath of the tempest; from the violence of enemies; and grant that we may arrive at our desired haven, in safety, health, and peace, and with a thankful remembrance of thy rich and manifold mercies. But we do more especially pray, O Lord our God, that if thou shouldst see fit to bring us into peril and misfortune, we may bear thy whole will with perfect submission, and surrender ourselves in every event to thine absolute and all wise disposal. Whether we are in danger or at rest, in sickness or health, in life or death, let us be thine, O Lord, and wholly thine.

Hear us in behalf of our country, and grant that it

Or this. 99d O LORD, our God, who madest heaven, and earth, and sea, and all that there in is, and who keepest thy promise forever; merci fully hear the prayers of thy servants; deliver us from the dangers of the seas; protect and prosperus in the way we go, and bring us to our haven and to our friends in peace; but above all things grant that we may always submit to thy will and pleasure, and obey

thy most holy law, and so pass the waves of this changing and troublesome world, that we may finally come to the land of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THOU, O Lord, who stillest the raging of the sea, hear, hear us, and save us, that we perish not.

O God, whose Son Jesus Christ did save his disci

O MOST glorious and gracious Lord God, who dwellest in heaven, but beholdest all things below; look down, we beseech thee, and hear us, calling out of the depth of misery, and out of the jaws of this death, which is now ready to swallow, us up. Save, Lord, or else, we perish. The living, the living shall praise thee, O send thy word of command to rebuke the raging winds, and the roaring sea; that we, being delivered from this distress, may live to serve thee, and to glorify thy name all the days of 7930 bag

THANKSGIVING AFTER A
STORM.

PSALM 107.

O THAT men would praise the Lord for his goodness; and declare the wonders that he doeth for the children of men!

That they would offer unto him the sacrifice of thanksgiving; and tell out his works with gladness!

They that go down to the sea in ships and occupy their business in great waters; liveto These men see the works of the Lord and his wonders in the deep.
