Through difficult urination arising from inflamed kidneys, bladder, prostrate or urethra. Lame back, abdominal pains, throbbing in the perineum, painful testes and catarrhal secretions are also likely to occur.

BUCHU, JUNIPER AND ACETATE OF POTASH, ETC.

Have been useful in the treatment of abnormalities named above, but the full therapeutic value of these medicine was not recognized until Professor Wayne presented his compound of them

WAYNE'S EILXIR

which has been accepted by the medical profession, is a standard remedy for inflammation of the secretory organs and a tonic stimulant for their depressed functional action.

For BRIGHT'S DISEASE Wayne's Elixir is indicated. For retained urates, acute or chronic Rheumatism, Wayne's Elixir is curative. Our assertions are proved by the following indorsements:

W. F. Glenn, M. D., Professor of Genito-Urinary Diseases in the Medical Department of Vanderbilt University, writes:"I employ Wayne's Diuretic Elixir in all irritations of the kidneys, bladder, urethra and prostrate gland, and have found that it meets every indication. From the very highly satisfactory results obtained by me from the use of this preparation during the last few years, I am quite sure its use will be attended by no disappointment or regrets."

Dr. J. F. Taylor, Richmond, Ind., writes:

"Wayne's Diuretic Elixir has given me better service for the diseases in which it is indicated, than all other remedies combined." W. E. Kiely, M.D., Prof. Principles and Practice of Medicine, Women's Medical College, Cincinnati, Ohio, writes:-

"I have been familiar with Wayne's Elixir for many years, and I take pleasure in recommending it to the profession; feeling confident that in any case in which a diuretic is indicated, that it will give satisfaction.

We will take pleasure in sending a pamphlet descriptive of buchu, juniper and acetate of potash, etc., with clinical confirmations of their medicinal value as compounded in Wayne's Elixir.

CLINICAL LESSONS ON NERVOUS DISEASES-By S. Weir Mitchell, M. D., L. L. D., Edin; Member of the National Academy of Sciences; Honorary Fellow of the Medico-Chirurgical Society of London. Published by Lea Bros. & Co., Philadelphia and New York. Cloth, $2.50.

There are many men and but few masters, of whom, since the death of the late lamented Charcot, if not before, S. Weir Mitchell is head master in his department. The little book of 305 pages is priceless, from the fact that it is a part of the clinical experience of this, the greatest clinician of his time. It is conveniently divided into chapters, each one devoted to some of the rarer forms of nervous disease, and each disease illustrated by actual cases from his apparently inexhaustible case-book. The writer sent him a case a few years since which baffled the medical skill of an entire section of the State; a man of great usefulness in his community, stricken a helpless and apparently hopeless invalid in the prime of life. In a few months he returned completely restored, and it looked like magic to us who had treated him in vain. The case is reported in this little book, and it is like a revelatson to read his clear analysis of the conditions of the patient, and the unique manner by which he reached a clear solution of condition and successful treatment. If you will buy this little book, you will not want to lay it down until you have finished reading it. Some of the titles which are suggestive are as follows: Psychic Blindness, Seasonable Melancholia, Some of the Disorders of Sleep, Hysterical Myoclonus, Subjective Sensations of Heat and Cold, J.

etc. etc.

HYSTERIA AND CERTAIN ALLIED CONDITIONS: Their Nature and Treatment, with Special Reference to the Application of the Rest Cure, Massage, Electro-Therapy, Hypnotism, etc. By George J. Preston, M. Published by P. Blakiston, Son & Co., 1012 Walnut St., Philadelphia. 1897. Cloth, $2.
