Academy,

Chapter 50.

Resolve in favor of Mattanawcook Academy.

Resolved, That the sum of five hundred dollars is hereby annually appropriated for the term of ten years to Mattanawcook Academy, an institution of learning in the town of Lincoln, in the county of Penobscot, provided, however, that the appropriation is made on the express condition that the trustees of said institution shall maintain and keep in operation a school equal in rank and grade of teaching with a first class academy; and provided further, that the governor and council and superintendent of schools shall have a right at all times to visit said school when the same shall be in operation, and if in the opinion of the governor and council, said institution at any time hereafter shall fail to fulfill the conditions contained in the resolve, they may in their discretion, withhold the appropriation herein granted.

Resolve in favor of Lincoln Academy.

Resolved, That the sum of five hundred dollars is hereby appropriated annually for the term of ten years, to Lincoln Academy, an institution of learning located in the town of Newcastle and county of Lincoln; provided, however, that this appropriation is made upon the express condition that the trustees of said institution shall maintain and keep in operation, a school equal in rank and grade of teaching with a first class academy, of not less than three terms of ten weeks each during each year, and provided further, that the governor and council and superintendent of common schools shall have a right at all times to visit said school when the same shall be in operation, and if in the opinion of the governor and council said institution, at any time hereafter, shall fail to fulfill the conditions of this resolve, they may in their discretion, withhold the appropriation herein granted.

Chapter 52.

Resolve in favor of an appropriation for repair of Trout Brook Road.

Resolved, That the sum of nine hundred dollars be and Trout Brook hereby is appropriated for repair of the Trout Brook road, so called, between Patten, in Penobscot county, and Trout Brook, in Piscataquis county, and that said appropriation shall be expended under the supervision of the land agent.

Resolve in favor of the Maine Insane Hospital.

Resolved, That the sum of twenty-eight thousand five hun- Insane dred thirty-eight dollars and thirty cents be and hereby is appropriated for and in behalf of the Maine Insane Hospital, for the years eighteen hundred and ninety-one and eighteen hundred and ninety-two, to be expended as follows: for improvements in the heating system five thousand dollars; for new kitchen four thousand six hundred thirty-six dollars and eighty-five cents; for furnishing the new pavilions five thousand five hundred eight-six dollars and twenty-five cents; for furnishing new attics and extra carpenter work five thousand six hundred fifty-one dollars and eighty-seven cents; for amount due architect and building committee eight hundred twenty-seven dollars and thirteen cents; for improvements in the laundry departments one thousand eight hundred and thirty-six dollars and twenty cents; for grading and constructing roads one thousand dollars; for improvement of stock on the farm one thousand dollars; for building cellar for vegetables three thousand dollars.

Resolve in favor of the town of Kenduskeag.

Resolved, That there be and is hereby appropriated the sum of one thousand dollars for aid in building a bridge across Kenduskeag River, in said town, to be paid on the

Chapter 55.

Resolve in favor of the town of Ashland.

Resolved, That there be, and is hereby appropriated the sum of one thousand dollars for aid in building a bridge across the Aroostook river, in said town, and that said appropriation shall be expended under the supervision of the county commissioners.

Resolve in favor of Allegash Plantation.

Resolved, That there be and hereby is appropriated the sum of one thousand dollars in aid of building a bridge across Negro Brook and making a road in said plantation. appropriation shall be expended under the direction of an agent appointed by the governor and council.

Resolved, That the land agent be and hereby is directed to convey to Oliver Van Meter of Deer Isle all the right, title and interest the state of Maine has in and to lot number thirty-eight in township number four, Indian Purchase.

Chapter 58.

Resolve in favor of the Joint Standing Committee on Military Affairs.

Resolved, That the treasurer of state be directed to pay committee on John Harper, chairman of the joint standing committee on Affairs, in favor military affairs, the sum of fifty-three dollars and thirty cents, being amount by him paid for expenses of said committee visiting Bath Military Asylum, in accordance with the order of the legislature.

Chapter 59.

Resolve in favor of the Bath Military and Naval Orphan Asylum.

Resolved, That there be and hereby is appropriated for the Bath Military and Naval Orphan Asylum the sum of eight thousand dollars for the year eighteen hundred and ninetyone, and eight thousand dollars for the year eighteen hundred and ninety-two; also the sum of one thousand dollars for repairs for the years eighteen hundred and ninety-one and eighteen hundred and ninety-two. Chapter 60.

Resolve for appropriation for the repair of ways in Number one, Range two, Somerset

County.

Resolved, That the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars Roads in No. 1, be and hereby is appropriated for the repair of the ways in Number one, Range two, known as Pleasant Ridge Plantation, west of the Kennebec river in Somerset county, and that said appropriation be expended under the supervision of the county commissioners of Somerset county.

Chapter 61.

Resolve in favor of the town of Lincoln.

Resolved, That the state treasurer be and hereby is directed to pay to the treasurer of the town of Lincoln in the county of Penobscot, the sum of fifteen dollars, the same being the amount paid by said treasurer for bounty on bears, and not refunded by the state.

Committee on Reform School, in favor of.

Chapter 62.

Resolve in favor of the Committee on State Reform School.

Resolved, That the state treasurer be directed to pay to Leander A. Poor, chairman of said committee, the sum of ninety-six dollars, the same being the amount paid out for expenses of the committee on its recent visits to that institution and to the State Industrial School for Girls, in accordance with the order of the legislature.

Chapter 63.

Resolve providing for state pensions for invalid soldiers, soldiers' widows and orphans, and the dependent children, parents and sisters of soldiers.

Resolved, That the sum of sixty-five thousand dollars be and is hereby appropriated to provide for state pensions for invalid soldiers, soldiers' widows and orphans, and the dependent children, parents and sisters of soldiers for the year eighteen hundred and ninety-one, and sixty thousand dollars for the year eighteen hundred and ninety-two.
