VII. The preceding rules fhall come in place of all former rules on the fubjects contemplated by them; and the fynods, presbyteries, and congregations, are required to pay a fpecial regard to these rules, and in their reports to fuperior judicatures, to make use of the forms adapted to them.

To fecure to the different fynods, presbyteries, and congregations, the poffeffion and knowledge of these rules and forms, the committee would alfo recommend the printing of them, in an appendix to the annual extracts of the Affembly's minutes, for several years in fucceflion, till the judicatories fhall have become familiar with them; and that, whenever the Affembly shall make any refolutions or rules affecting these rules and forms, it shall be the duty of the permanent clerk to make the requifite alterations in both.

The committee would further propose, that the Affembly should make it a standing rule, annually to appoint a committee, who shall take the fynodical and presbyterial reports, after they have been read before the Affembly, and fill up the blanks of a form, prepared to exhibit a compendious view of the number of minifters, congregations, licentiates, candidates and communicants, together with the baptifms and collections in one year.

And finally, the committee would propose that the Affembly fhould order the permanent clerk to have printed, a number of copies of the form, exhibiting a compendious view, &c. to be bound together, in a feparate book, and preferved for the benefit of those who wish to become acquainted with the state of our churches.*

COLLECTIONS.

The following fums have been paid into the funds of the General Affembly, fince the publication of last year.

N. B. The names of the contributing churches are given, (so far as documents are furnished,) with the fum paid by each, annexed. The detail is confined to the churches belonging to the fynod of Albany, the fynod of New-York and New-Jerfey, and the fynod of Philadelphia. The fynods of Pittsburg, of Virginia, and of the Carolinas, feverally conduct the miflionary bufinefs in a separate capacity; therefore, the contributions of the churches under their care, pafs into the funds of thofe fynods refpectively; but fome account of them will be given at the close of these collections.

The Treafurer of the fynod of Kentucky has accounted for one hundred and ninety-two dollars and feventy one cents, received by him for miffionary purposes, which he paid to miffionaries of the General Affembly.

This order has been executed; and if all the Presbyteries make their annual reports, this book will contain a compendious history of the Presbyterian church.
