THE large increase in the Society's correspondence, the multiplication of its Branches, the number of kindred Associations on the Continent of Europe and in America who maintain fraternal relations with us, and the desire entertained by the Committee that all the Members of the Association should become from time to time acquainted with the details of its operations and progress, have suggested the propriety of issuing this paper, as a means of general communication with all in every place who sympathize in our concern and effort for the spiritual welfare of Young Men, and seek to promote, in and by them, the glory of God, and the extension of the Redeemer's kingdom.

It will be followed, from time to time, by similar papers, containing such correspondence and information as may seem calculated to interest the friends of the Association, to illustrate its working, and to awaken the attention of the Church of Christ to the difficulties, dangers, and necessities of Young Men.

In the present instance, the letters subjoined are printed ver. lit., in order that the force of the communications from Foreign Branches might not be destroyed.

To the dear Brethren, from whom they have been received, and to all who are united with them in the faith and hope of the gospel, the Committee desire to offer a fervent and affectionate greeting. Their hearts are filled with thankfulness as each successive month brings with it evidence that their prayers are answered, and that throughout the wide world, wherever God has his witnesses, there are springing up bands of those
