I..Paragraph III, General Orders, No. 29, Headquarters of the Army, Adjutant General's Office, August 7, 1894, is hereby rescinded. [1204784, M. S. O.]

II. Paragraph 992, Army Regulations, is amended to read as follows:

992. Trials by general courts-martial, including so much of the proceedings as will give the charges and specifications, the pleadings, findings, and sentence, and the action and remarks of the reviewing authority, will be announced in orders issued from the War Department or from the proper division or department headquarters. If the charges contain matter which for any reason is unfit for publication, such matter will be omitted from the order, but a copy thereof will be promptly furnished by the reviewing authority to the commanding officer of the post at which the officer or soldier is confined, to be included with the papers required by paragraph 945 to be sent to the commanding officer of the post or military prison where the sentence of confinement is to be executed. III. The four additional bands for the coast artillery author-
ized by section 5 of the act of Congress approved January 25,
1907, published in General Orders, No. 24, War Department,
February 2, 1907, are designated and will hereafter be known
as the 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th Bands, Coast Artillery, and
are assigned to stations as follows:

The 11th Band, Coast Artillery, at Fort H. G. Wright, New
York.

The 12th Band, Coast Artillery, at Fort Totten, New York.
The 13th Band, Coast Artillery, at Fort Du Pont, Delaware.
The 14th Band, Coast Artillery, at Fort Screven, Georgia.
The commanding officers of the posts mentioned herein will
proceed at once to organize these bands. [1213292, M. S. O.]

WASHINGTON, March 2, 1907.

I.. The following organizations are designated to participate in the Jamestown Ter-Centennial Exposition and will proceed to the designated camp ground at that place in time to arrive there not later than April 24, 1907:

The 23d Infantry.

One squadron, 12th Cavalry, to be designated by the department commander.

One battery, field artillery, from Fort Myer, Virginia, to be designated by the department commander.

The organizations mentioned will be completely equipped with the full dress and service uniforms.

The Quartermaster's Department will furnish the proper allowance of tentage of a uniform color for a permanent camp, together with field cots for all officers and enlisted men.

The commanding general, Atlantic Division, is charged with the execution of these movements and will promptly report hours of departure and arrival and strength of commands by telegraph to The Military Secretary of the Army.

The Quartermaster's Department will furnish the necessary
transportation, the Subsistence Department suitable subsist-
ence, and the Medical Department proper medical attendance
and supplies for the troops while en route to and encamped on
the Exposition grounds.

The travel directed is necessary in the military service.

II. Major General Frederick D. Grant, United States Army,
in addition to his duties as department commander, will assume
command of the encampment of the troops referred to in para-
graph I of this order, and will arrange the program of military
exercises, both of United States troops and of foreign repre-
sentative organizations encamped at the Exposition, including
preparations for the reception and accommodation of those
organizations, and the entertainment of foreign officers who
may visit the Exposition upon the invitation of the Govern-

ment.

Such journeys to and from Governors Island, New York, as may be required by Major General Grant in obeying this order are necessary in the military service. [1213979, M. S. O.] BY ORDER OF THE SECRETARY OF WAR:

WASHINGTON, March 4, 1907.

I..Under instructions of the President, the original vacancies created or caused in the grade of first lieutenant in the field artillery by the operation of the act of Congress approved January 25, 1907, and which shall be found to exist when the promotions required by that act shall have been made, together with the original vacancies similarly created or caused in the same grade in the coast artillery, will be filled by the appointment of such lieutenants of the Corps of Engineers, cavalry, and infantry as may pass the required examination, and the rank in the field and coast artillery, respectively, of first lieutenants so appointed will be determined by their standing in the examination, which shall be competitive.

The examination for appointment to the field artillery will be held at Fort Riley, Kansas, on May 15, 1907, and that for appointment to the coast artillery will be held at Fort Monroe, Virginia, on the same date. The examinations will be as prescribed in paragraph VIII, General Orders, No. 55, March 24, 1904, War Department. [1210081 Y-M. S. O.]

II..Paragraph 333, Small Arms Firing Regulations, 1906, is amended to read as follows:

DISTINGUISHED CLASSES OF MARKSMEN.

333. REQUIREMENTS.-Whenever a marksman has won three authorized medals in department, division, and army rifle, or carbine competitions, or in department, division, and army pistol competitions, he will be announced in orders from the War Department as belonging to a distinguished class, no longer eligible to enter the division competitions with the arm in the use of which he is distinguished.

The authorized medals won in the National Team Match by those members of a prize-winning team who actually fire in that match will be considered as authorized medals in transferring marksmen to the distinguished class. [1204992, M. S. O.]

III. The following-named marksmen, having won three authorized medals in rifle or carbine competitions, including the National Team Match of 1906, are transferred to the class of distinguished marksmen, and proper medals will be issued, as
