On the 17th of May, under the Amended Constitution, an election was held for a Chief Judge and six Associate Judges of the Court of Appeals. For Chief Judge, Henry R. Selden, Rep. received 151788 votes, and Sanford E. Church, Dem., 239685; maj. for Church, 8797. For Associate Judges, each eléctor voted for only four candidates while six Judges were to be cbn.com, thus giving the minority a representation. The Democrats nominated William F. Allen, Martin 'erover, Rufus W. Peckham, and Charles A. Rapello. The Republicans nominated Charles J. Folger, Charles Andrews, Charles Mason, and Robert S. Hale. The Democrats were all elected, having an average majority of 85093. _Messrs. Folger and Andrews, receiving the la gent nnmher of votes on the Republican ticket, were also elected.
