1-128 grain Strychnine to the teaspoonful.

The pharmaceutical skill displayed in making this favorite compound more stable and agreeable deserves the approbation of the profession. As a nerve stimulant and restorative in wasting

and debilitating diseases, as a constructive agent in Insomnia, Pneumonia, Tuberculosis, Bronchial Asthma, Marasmus, Strumous Diseases and General Debility, this compound has no superior. Owing to the solubility of the salts, addition can be made of Fowler's Solution, Syrup Iod. Iron, Iod. Potass., etc., giving the advantages of those remedies without interfering with the stability of the preparations. SYRUPUS ROBORANS is a perfect solution, and will keep in any climate.

Dr. W. O. ROBERTS says: "In cases convalescing from La Grippe' Syrupus Roborans has no equal."

MESSRS. ARTHUR PETER & Co., Louisville, Ky. Gentlemen: The excellence of your preparations "SYRUPUS ROBORANS" and "PEPTIC ESSENCE COMP."-can not be questioned. I use both in my practice, and have always been pleased with the effect of each. Respectfully, J. M. MATHEWS, A,M., M.D., Prof. of Surg. and Diseases of Rectum, Hosp. College of Med. EX-PRESIDENT AM. MEDICAL ASSOCIATION and Mississippi Valley Medical Association; President Kentucky State Board of Health. Please note that

PETER'S PEPTIC ESSENCE COMP

A POWERFUL DIGESTIVE FLUID IN PALATABLE FORM.

P. Glycerin in a manner retaining their full therapeutic value, which is exerted in and beyond the stomach. It is a Stomachie Tonic, and relieves Indigestion, Flatulency, and has the remarkable property of arresting vomiting during pregnancy. It is a remedy of great value in Gastralgia, Enteralgia, Cholera Infantum, and intestinal derangements, especially those of an inflammatory character. For nursing mothers and teething children it has no superior. Besides more digestive properties, Pepsin and Pancreatine have powerful soothing and sedative effects, and are therefore indicated in all gastric and intestinal derange ments, and especially in inflammatory conditions. It is perfectly miscible with any appropriate medium. In certain cases the addition of Tr. Nux Vomica gives much satisfaction. Please write for Peter's Peptic Essence, and you will not be disappointed. These preparations are held strictly in the hands of the medical profession, never having been advertised as popular remedies, nor put up with wrappers and circulars expatiating on the use of the Hypophosphites or Digestives, thus educating the public in the use of these valuable compounds.

The Portraits of Our Presidents

With Biographical Sketches

By GENERAL CHARLES H. GROSVENOR.

Title page designed by Tiffany.

This Inaugural year, when the public mind is aroused over Presidential questions, is a fitting time to issue General Grosvenor's book. Its sale is already tremendous, and will perhaps exceed that of General Grant's Personal Memoirs. Every patriotic American desires to read what General Grosvenor has to say of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, President McKinley and the other Chief Executives of the Nation. Everybody desires to read what General Grosvenor, the staunch old Republican leader in Congress, will say of that staunch old Democrat, Andrew Jackson, the Father of the Democratic Party. General Grosvenor has thrown into his sketch of Jackson all the fire and energy of his nature. The biography of Thomas Jefferson is grand. The biography of Lincoln is as beautiful as a sunrise over the hilltops. General Grosvenor has persoually known all the Presidents since the time of James Buchanan. The General's book will therefore contain history which has never before been published, written from his personal observation of these great men. General Grosvenor has served.in Congress twenty years, and he has served his country in war and in Congress for nearly forty years. The book contains twenty-four large Photogravure Etchings as fine as Steel Plates, printed by hand, on heavy plate paper, made especially to order. These 24 Photogravure Etchings are in different tints, and are well worth $2 each. These Portraits are made from Paintings endorsed by the family and near relatives of the Presidents. Two years' time and a fortune have been expended in securing these productions. The complete book is well worth $50, but the price has been placed so low that the most humble American citizen can own it. The biographical sketches are printed in large open type in two colors; the work is so beautiful that when people see it they want it. The advance sale is very large. President McKinley was the first subscriber. There is one edition known as The President Editon de Grand Luxe, initial letters hand painted, Portraits hand colored, title page hand illuminated, registered and numbered; subscription price, $250. Orders and applications for territory are coming in rapidly. A high class man or woman of good social standing can soon make a small fortune taking orders in this community. Send references and apply for terms quick, as the territory will all be assigned soon. Address

ham Douche on or about January 20, 1899. At that time I

M.D., Ark.-Will] state I received a sample bottle (1 lb.) of Glyco-Thymoline (Kress) and the Berminghad been a sufferer from Nasal Catarrh for fifteen years. Every winter and spring I would have catarrhal fever and

headache for months at a time, but at this time I had it bear the light of the sun at all; had tried everything I could

worse than usual; was confined to my room and could not hear of with no effect. I was so bad that the inflammation had extended to the optic nerve, and my right eye was swollen and so painful I could not rest day or night; had been that way for a month, when looking over my Medical Brief I saw your advertisement. I sent for a trial package and I received it promptly. Before I had used it a week I could go about and attend to my practice. Now I am not quick to grab at everything I see advertised, but when I do take up a preparation I give it a fair trial. I used all of the bottle before I quit and have not felt the slightest symp. toms of it since. One thing I wish to mention is, that before using the Glyco-Thymoline (Kress) every time I would take a bath, if I did not take great care and dress right away, I would begin to sneeze and my head would nearly split. But I have not had a cold since and I am out in all kinds of weather in the worst climate in the South-hot days, cold nights. I think Glyco-Thymoline (Kress) and the Bermingham Douche are the proper things in nasal Catarrh.

ACTUTE CYSTITIS.

Case II. Mr. E. S., age 25, unmarried, occupation, clerk, consulted me for an Actute Cystitis, as a result of a complication of Acute Posterior Urethritis. The symptoms of this case were not as marked as those of Case I. The hematuria in this case was quite severe and copious, however, at times. The treatment of this case was practically the same as that for Case I, with the exception of a weaker solution of Glyco-Thymoline (Kress). It being 1-10 for the first five days and 1-16 for the following seven days, at the end of which time there was no longer any distress of the bladder.
