ARTICLE VII. Synodical References. The Committee on Synodical Minutes reported, and their report was adopted, and is as follows: The Committee on Synodical Minutes ask leave to report-That they find an appeal from the decision of the Particular Synod of New-York, made to the General Synod, by the Consistory of the Church of Paramus, in the case of the Rev. Wilhelmus Eltinge and C. S. Van Wagenen, from a decision of the Classis of Paramus, in the case of Cornelius A. Hopper and others. See page 23 of Minutes of the Particular Synod of New-York. On the Minutes of the Particular Synod of Albany, page 19. Mr. Bogardus gave notice of his intention to appeal from the decision of the Particular Synod to the General Synod, in relation to a complaint made by the Rev. Mr. Bogardus, concerning the conduct of the Classis of Schenectady, in the reception and installation of the Rev. Seth Bunnel, as pastor of the First Church of Glenville. Your committee also inform Synod that the complaint is now laid on the table by Mr. Bogardus, for the consideration of Synod. Your committee find on page 533 of the Minutes of the General Synod, 1836, that a committee was appointed to prepare a selection of sacred music, which may be recommended to general use among our congregations. On the Minutes of the Particular Synod of New-York, page 6, a resolution "that the General Synod be requested to inquire whether it would not promote the interest, and especially the convenience of all concerned, to have the Classis of Orange transferred from the Northern to the Southern Synod. Your committee also find, that the seats of several of the members of the Board of Superintendents have become vacant by death or removals, viz: Rev. J. B. Hardenbergh, from the Classis of Poughkeepsie. Rev. Robert Bronk, of the Classis of Albany. Rev. Isaac N. Wyckoff, from the Classis of Greene. |
