TO THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF THE COLONIAL DAMES OF AMERICA

THROUGH the gray vista of years we behold noble women making homes in spite of uncertainty, suffering, and death. They rocked the cradle of the nation; they helped to build a glorious country. Their courage, their gentleness and their tenderness grow with the years.

To perpetuate the memory of their virtues and to preserve the highest ideals, the National Society of Colonial Dames was formed.

May the members of this Society always maintain

That courtesy which gives no pain;

That heroism which faints not;

That charity which suffereth long and is kind; emulating the virtues of their Colonial Mothers, and transmitting the highest aspirations to their daughters!

Hathing Cabell Cox

Richmond.

President-General Colonial Dames of America.

DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN

REVOLUTION

HERE'S to the daughters of the American Revolution,
Whose grandsires framed our Great Constitution,
And here's to the Patriots with hearts so true
Who fought for our Flag-the Red, White and Blue.
Then pledge me a toast to this noble band,

Who teach these principles to children of our land:
