No selections have been made from any English, Irish, or Scotch Authors without their permission having first been asked, whenever the Authorship was known;

where it was not known this, of course, could not be done; and, in such cases, if Authors see extracts from their writings, I must beg to apologize, and to assure them their leave would have been asked had it been possible to do so.
