Brother Rother had been in the employ of one company during all his railroad career of 53 years, and for 43 years he made the run between Hillsboro and Cincinnati daily, and was in this service at the time of his death, and the oldest in active service on the B. & O. road. He joined the B. of L. F. in August, 1865, making him among the oldest members of the order-a pioneer in its establishment, who had seen and shared in both the struggles and the benefits emanating from the staunch defense of its principles, giving it the benefit of his high personal character recognized by all who knew him. His two sons followed his avocation, one losing his life in a wreck. The other, Bro. Will Rother, is a member of Div. 492 and road foreman of engines on the Big Four Railway.
