Rev. JOHN TENISON, B.D. and Fellow of Peterhouse; born 1599; Curate of Cotten-Mercy, eldest da. ham 1631; Rector of Mundesley, Norfolk, 1637; Compounded April 1640; Rector of Topcroft, Norfolk, 1641-2; and of Bracon Ash 9 March 1662, which latter living was resigned by his son Thomas. He was ejected during the Rebellion (see Walker's "Sufferings of the Clergy'). He signs the Register of Topcroft from 1641, and his last signature is under the 12 November 1670. Died at Bracon Ash 25 June 1671, aged 72, and buried at Topcroft. M.I. Will dated 17 February 1670; proved 16 April 1672.

Ralph Tenison, living 1670; married and had issue John Tenison, living 1670 (? who married at Topcroft 2 October 1664 Elizabeth Harvey, apparently died s.p.s., as no mention is made of any in the wills of the Archbishop, of Edward Tenison the elder, or of Dr. Edward Tenison, Bishop of Ossory), and Anne, also living 1670.

"Canterbury" is an unusual signature for the Primate. It is appended to a letter to a son of Richard Tenison, Bishop of Meath, whom the Archbishop addresses as "Dear Cozen," and subscribes himself "Your affectionate Kinsman." The precise relationship has not been ascertained.

Frances, born about 1666; married at Shelton, Norfolk, 16-Richard Tubby of February 1687; died 23 December 1728, and buried at Brock- Redenhall, Sheriff dish, Norfolk, M.I., "in her 69th year," which is incorrect. of Norfolk 1729.

Rev. PHILIP TENISON, D.D., Cambridge (son of Rev. John Tenison, B.D., of Downham, above-named), Vicar of Barton, Ely, 1637-41; Vicar of Wethersfield, Essex, 1642; Rector of Hethersett, Norfolk, 1647, from which he was ejected during the Rebellion to make way for one Coleman, who was buried there 1658; Archdeacon of Norfolk 24 August 1660. Born at Downham; baptized 26 April 1612. Admitted to Trinity College, Cambridge, 22 April 1631. Had a Grant of Arms 1660. After being ejected from his living he set up a school at Bawburgh, Norfolk, where he died, and was buried 15 January 1660-61, aged 48. M.I. (See page 33.)

EDWARD TENISON, the elder, of Nor--Mary Ellet wich, and subsequently of Lambeth; Churchwarden of St. Stephen's, Norwich, 1681-2; was "of the city of Norwich, Gentleman," 5 December 1694. He was a Notary. Died s.p. Will dated 31 March 1713; proved 15 December 1714. His nephew Edward his heir.

Joseph Tenison, died shortly-Margaret, da. of Edward before 7 February 1689. In 1681 he caused Captain Gibbs, then of Tombland, Norwich, and afterwards the bravado who drove his phaeton up and down the Devil's Ditch at Newmarket, to be bound over to keep the peace towards him.
