On the east face:-Here lie the remains of | The Revd | CHARLES WESLEY, M.A. | who departed this life | The 29th March 1788 | Aged 80 Years.

"With poverty of Spirit bless'd

Rest, happy Saint, in Jesus rest;

A Sinner Sacred through Grace forgiv'n,
Redeem'd from Earth to reign in Heav'n
Thy labours of unwearied Love,

By thee forgot are crown'd above,
Crown'd through the Mercy of thy Lord

DIANA GERTRUDE WILSON, | Daughter and only Child | of Sir GIFFIN WILSON of Stratford Place, and Woodburn House, Bucks, one of the Masters in | Chancery, who died the 11th of June 1827, in the 22nd year of her age. | Also HARRIET LADY WILSON, | Mother of the above and the wife of the above | Sir GIFFIN WILSON, and youngest daughter of the late Lieut. The following inscription is to be seen under an old row of shelves (presumably for loaves of bread) in the vestibule of the Parish Church of St. Marylebone, whither it was no doubt removed on the erection of the church in 1818 :

THOS VERLEY, late of this Parish Gave
Fifty Pounds, the Interest to be Given

in Twelve Penny Loaves to the
Poor, every Sabbath day for ever, 1692.

The following notice appears in Shadwell's Registrum Orielense,' vol. i., p. 173 :

1621. Crosbie, John, adm. B.A. Oriel 22 Nov. 1621, det. 1621-2, lic. for M.A. 20 Nov. 1624, inc. 1625, matric. Queen's 30 Mar. 1617. Westm. pleb. fil 17. Similar information is given in Foster's Alumni Oxonienses.'

The following extracts are from the Parish Registers of Orton, Westmoreland :October 1596. Edward, son of Leonard Crosbie.

October 1601. Jeffrey and Robert, sons of John Crosby of Birkbeck Falls. December 1607. John, son of John Crosby.

[This does not tally with the inscription.] August 1608. Thomas, son of Geoffrey Crosby.

On the first page of the old Register Book, dated 1596, one Robert Crosbie is named as one of the twelve men of the Parish of Orton.

In another Register Book are the following entries:

January 30th 1731. John, son of Thomas Crosby of Cocklake.

August 1737. Edward, son of George Crosby of Tebay.

There are no monumental inscriptions of this family recorded in Bellasis' 'Church Notes' either for Orton or Crosby Ravensworth. (F. B. GARNETT, Esq., C.B.)

TAHOURDIN. (Vide Vol. I., page 202.)

Janette Tahourdin, relict of Captain Rose, R.N., was afterwards the first wife of Peter Tahourdin (1771-1844) a Solicitor in Argyll Street, but not the mother of his children, though by a second wife he had a large family. She died "suddenly, after eating a hearty dinner." (HENRY WAGNER.)

FLEMING. (Vide Vol. I., page 131.)

GILBERT FANE FLEMING was son of Gilbert Fleming, Esq., Lieut.-Governor of the Island of St. Christopher in the West Indies, by Katherine his first wife. He died in Wimpole Street on 26 Dec. 1776. He married Lady Camilla Bennet, at St. George's, Hanover Square, on 14 Jan. 1754, by whom he left no male issue. (See his pedigree in my History of Antigua,' vol. i., p. 253.)

OLIVER. (Vide Vol. I., page 131.)

PETER OLIVER, M.D., fourth son of the Hon. Andrew Oliver,* Lieut.-Governor of Massachusetts, by Mary Sandford his second wife, was born 17 Sep. 1749, and married Love, dau. of John Frye. He was a Loyalist, and arrived in London about Feb. 1780 with the fleet from New York. (See the Genealogy of Tho. Oliver,' by W. H. Whitmore, 1865, and 'The Diary and Letters of Governor Tho. Hutchinson of Mass., 1886.')

1795, April 6. At his lodgings in Tichfield-street, Mary-la-Bonne (where he arrived on the 4th), Peter Oliver, esq., surgeon to the Staff on the Continent, and third son of the late Hon. Peter O., lieutenant-governor of the Massachusetts, New England." (Gent. Mag.,' p. 358.)

This entry in the Gentleman's Magazine' is incorrect. Peter Oliver, Chief Justice of Mass., had a son, Peter, M.D., who was born in 1741, married Sarah, dau. of Governor Hutchinson, and was living 20 Sep. 1796, as is attested by his Diary. "1811, Dec. 28. In Edward-street, Cavendish-square, Abraham Holden Turner, esq." (Gent. Mag.,' p. 661.)
