About the author (2009)

Kathy Elgin studied English at London University, specializing in drama and 19th-century literature. After a full-time publishing career as writer and editor, she worked for several years as a dance and theater critic before joining the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1987. Now focused on writing, she has written many books, including titles in the Chelsea House sets Fashions of a Decade, Costume and Fashion Source Books, and Costume Around the World.
