8 וְסָפַרְתָּ לִךְ שֶׁבַע שַׁבְּתת שָׁנִים שְׁבַע שָׁנִים שֶׁבַע פְּעָמִים וְהָיוּ לְךְ יְמֵי שֶׁבַע שַׁבְּחֹת הַשָּׁנִים תֵּשַׁע וְאַרְבָּעָם שָׁנָה: 9 וְהַעֲבַרְתָּ שׁוֹפַר תְּרוּעָה בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשְׁבָעִי בֶּעָשׂוֹר לַחְדֶשׁ בְּיוֹם הַכִּפְרִים תַּעֲבִירוּ שׁוֹפָר בְּכָל־אַרְצְכֶם : 10 וְקִדַּשְׁתֶּם אֵת שְׁנַת הַחֲמִשִׁים שָׁנָה וּקְרָאתֶם דְּרָוֹר בָּאָרֶץ לְכָל־יִשְׁבֶיהָיוּבֵל הִוא תִּהְיֶה לָכֶם וְשַׁבְתֶּם אִישׁ אֶל־אֲחִנָּתוֹ וְאֵישׁ אֶל־מִשְׁפַּחְתּוֹ תָּשָׁבוּ : i יוֹבֵל הוא שְׁנַת הַחֲמִשִׁים שָׁנָה תִּהְיֶה לָכֶם לֹא תִזְרָעי וְלֹא תִקְצְרוּ אֶת־סְפִיחֶיהָ וְלֹא תִבְצְרוּ אֶת־נְזֶרֶיהָ: 12 כִּי יוֹבֵל הוא

קְדֶשׁ תִּהְיֶה לָכֶם מִן־הַשָּׂדֶה תּאכְלוּ אֶת־תְּבוּאָתָהּ: שני 13 בִּשְׁנַת הַיּוֹבֵל הַזאת תָּשָׁבוּ אִישׁ אֶל־אֲחִנָּתְוֹ: 14 וְכִי־

תִמְכְּרוּ מִמְכָּר לַעֲמִיתֶךָ אוֹ קָנָה מִיךָ עֲמִיתֶךָ אַל־תּוֹנוּ אִישׁ אֶת־אָחִיו : 15 בְּמִסְפַּר שָׁנִים אַחַר הַיּוֹבֵל תִּקְנֶה מֵאֵת עֲמִיתֶךָ בְּמִסְפַּר שְׁנֵי־תְבוּאֹת יִמְכָּר־לָךְ: 16 לְפִי רב הַשָׁנִים תַּרְבֶּה מִקְנָתוֹ וּלְפִי מְעַט הַשָּׁנִים תַּמְעִיט מִקְנָתוֹ כִּי מִסְפַּר תְּבוּאֹת הָוּא מֹכֶר לָךְ : 17 וְלֹא תוֹנוּ אִיש אֶת־־עֲמִיתוֹ וְיָרֵאתָ מֵאֱלֹהֶיךָ כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם : 18 וַעֲשִׂיתֶם אֶת־־חקתַי וְאֶת־מִשְׁפָּטִי

תִּשְׁמְרוּ וַעֲשִׂיתֶם אֹתָם וִישַׁבְתָּם עַל־הָאָרֶץ לָבֶטַח : שלישי 19 וְנָתְנָה הָאָרֶץ פַּרְיָהּ וַאֲכַלְתֶּם לָשְׂבַע וִישַׁבְתֶּם לָבֶטַח

עָלֶיהָ: 20 וְכִי תָאמְרוּ מַה־־נאכַל בַּשָּׁנָה הַשְׁבִיעֶת הֵן לֹא נִזְרָע וְלֹא נֶאֶסֶף אֶת־־תְּבוּאָתֵנוּ : 21 וְצִיִּיתִי את־בִּרְכָתִי לָכֶם בַּשָּׁנָה הַשַׁשִׁית וְעָשֶׂת אֶת־הַתְּבוּאָה לִשְׁלְשׁ הַשָּׁנִים: 22 וּזְרַעְתֶּם אֵת הַשָּׁנָה הַשְׁמִינָת וַאֲכַלְתֶּם מִן־הַתְּבוּאָה יָשָׁן עָדי הַשָּׁנָה הַתְּשִׁיעִת עַד־ בּוֹא תְּבוּאָתָה תּאכְלֶוּ יָשָׁן : 23 וְהָאָרֶץ לֹא תִמָּכֵר לִצְמִתת כִּי־לֵי הָאָרֶץ כִּי־גַרִים וְתִוֹשָׁבֵים אַתֶּם עִמָּדִי : 24 וּבְכָל אֶרֶץ אֲחָזַתְכֶם גְאֶלֶה תִּתְּנוּ לָאָרֶץ:

25 כִּי־יָמִיךְ אָחִיךְ וּמָכַר מֵאֲחנָּתוֹ וּבָא גַאֲלוֹ

AND the LORD spake unto Moses
in mount Sinai, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land § keep a sabbath unto the LORD.

3 Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof.

4 But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.

5 That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest, thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: ‡‡ for it is a year of rest unto the land.

6 And the sabbath of the land |||| shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired seryant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee.

7 And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be

meat.

By reason of the corn that fell out of the ears the year past.

*Because the punishment was not yet appointed by the law for the blasphemer, Moses consulted with the Lord and told the people what God commanded.

The Jews began the count of this year in the month of Tishri, which is about September, för then all the fruits were gathered.

13 וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל־־מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר: 14 הוֹצֵא אֵר הַמְקַלֵּל אֶל־מִחוּץ לַמַּחֲנֶה וְסָמַכְוּ כָל־חַשְׁמָעִים אֶת־ יְדֵיהֶם עַל־רֹאשׁוֹ וְרָנְמְוּ אֹתוֹ כָּל־הָעָרֶה: 15 וְאֶל־ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל תְּדַבֵּר לֵאמֹר אִישׁ אִיש כִּי־יְקַלֵּל אֱלֹהָיו וְנָשָׂא חֶטְאוֹ : .16 וְנָקֵב שֵׁם־־יְהוָה מוֹת יוּמָת רָגום : ירְנְמוּ־בוֹ כָּל־הָעֵדָה בַּנֵר כָּאֶזְרָח בְּנָקְבוֹ שָׁם יוּמָת:

וְאִישׁ כִּי יַכֶּה כָּל־נֶפֶשׁ אָדָם מוֹת יוּמָת: 18 וּמַכֵּה נֶפֶשׁ־בְּהֵמָה יְשַׁלְמֶנֶה נֶפֶשׁ תַּחַת נָפֶשׁ: 19 וְאִישׁ כִּי־ יִתֵּן מוּם בַּעֲמִיתוֹ כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה כֵּן יַעֲשֶׂה לְוֹ: 20 שֶׁבֶר תַּחַת שֶׁבֶר עַיִן תַּחַת עֵין שֵׁן תַּחַת שָׁן כַּאֲשֶׁר יִתֵּן מוּם

בָּאָדָם כֵּן יִנָּתֵן בּוֹ: 21 וּמַכָּה בְהֵמָה יְשַׁלְמָנָה וּמַכָּה מפטיר אָדָם יוּמָת: 2 מִשְׁפַּט אֶחָד יִהְיֶה לָכֶם כַּבֵּר כָּאֶזְרָח

יִהְיֶה כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם: 23 וַיְדַבֵּר משֶׁה אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיוֹצִיאוּ אֶת־הַמְקַלֵּל אֶל־מְחוּץ לַמַּחנה וַיִּרְנְמְוּ אֹתוֹ אָבֶן וּבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל עָשׂוּ כַּאֲשֶׁר צִיָּה יְהוָה

שַׁבַּת הָאָרֶץ לָכֶם לְאָכְלָה לְךְ וּלְעָבְרְךְ וְלַאֲמָתְךָ ולשכירך ולתושבך הגרים עמך : 7 וְלֶבְהֶמְתָּךְ וְלָחַיָּה אֲשֶׁר בְּאַרְצה תהיה כָל־תְּבוּאָתָהּ לאכל: ס...

shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.

40 And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm-trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.

41 And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year: it shall be a statute for ever in your generations, ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.

42 Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites 'born, shall dwell in booths:

43 That your generations may know that I made § the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. 44 And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the LORD.

CHAP. XXIV.

AND the LORD spake unto Moses,

saying,

2 Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil-olive beaten, for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually.

6 And thou shalt set them in two rows, six on a row, upon the pure table before the LORD.

7 And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial, even an offering || made by fire unto the LORD.

8 Every sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant.

9 And it shall be Aaron's and his sons, and they shall eat it in the holy place for it is most holy unto him, of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, by a perpetual statute.

10 And the son of an Israelitish woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel; and this son of the Israelitish woman, and a man of Israel strove together in the camp:

11 And the Israelitish woman's son blasphemed the name of the LORD, and cursed: and they brought him unto Moses (and his mother's name was Shelomith the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan:)

וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר: 2 צו אֶת־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְיִקְחוּ אֵלֶיךָ שֶׁמֶן זַיִת זָךְ כָּתִית לַמָּאוֹר לְהַעלת נֵר תָּמִיד: 3 מִחוּץ לְפָרֹכֶת הָעֲדַת בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד עֲרך אתוֹ אַהֲרן מֵעֶרֶב עַד־בָּקֶר לִפְנֵי יְהוָה תָּמִיד חֶקֶת עלָם לְדרתֵיכֶם: 4 עַל הַמְּנֹרָה הַטְהרה יערךְ אֶת־ הַנֵּרוֹת לִפְנֵי יְהוָה תָּמִיד : 5 וְלָקַחְתָּ עֹלֶת וְאָפִיתָ אֹתָהּ שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה חַלוֹת שְׁנֵי עֶשְׂרֹנִים יִהְיֶה הַחַלָּה הָאֶחָת : 6 וְשַׁמְתָּ אוֹתָם שְׁתַּיִם מַעֲרָכוֹת שֶׁשׁ הַמַּעֲרֶכֶת עַל הַשְׁלְחַן הַמָּהר לִפְנֵי יְהוָה : ד וְנָתַתָּ עַל־הַמֶּערְכֶת לְבֹנָה זַכָּה וְהָיְתָה לַלֶחֶם לְאַזְכָּרָה אִשֶׁה לַיהוָה : 8 בְיוֹם הַשַּׁבָּת בְּיוֹם הַשַּׁבָּת יֶערְכֶנּוּ לִפְנֵי יְהוָה תָּמִיד מֵאֵת בְּנֵי־־יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּרִית עוֹלָם : 9 וְהָיְתָה לְאַהֲרֹן וּלְבָנָיו וַאֲכָלָהוּ בְּמָקוֹם קָדְשׁ כִּי קֹדֶשׁ קָדָשִׁים הוּא לָוֹ מֵאִשֵׁי יְהוָה חָק דֶעוֹלָם :

10 ויצֵא בֶּן־אִשֶׁה יִשְׂרְאֵלִית וְהוּא בֶּן־־אִישׁ מִצְרִי בְּתוֹךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּנָּצוּ בַּמַּחֲנֶה בֶּן הַיִּשְׂרְאֵלִית וְאִישׁ הַיִּשְׂרְאֵלִי : מ וַיִּקֶב בֶּן־הָאִשָּׁה הַיִּשְׂרְאֵלִית אֶת־־הַשֵׁם וַיְקַלֵּל וַיָּבִיאוּ אֹתוֹ אֶל-משֶׁה וְשֵׁם אִמָוֹ שֶׁלמית בַּת־־דִּבְרֵי לְמַטֶה דֶן : 12 ויניחהוּ בַּמִּשְׁמָר לִפְרשׁ לָהֶם עַל־פִּי יְהוָה :
