your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

And all nations shall call you blessed for ye shall be

a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.

And Samuel said unto the people Fear not: (ye have done 1 Sam. 12:20 all this wickedness, yet turn not aside from following the

LORD, but SERVE the LORD with all your heart:

And turn ye not aside, for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit, nor deliver, for they are vain.)

For the LORD, will not forsake his people, for his great Name's sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.

Only fear the LORD, and SERVE him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for

you.

And one of the Elders answered, saying unto me, What Rev. 7: 13. are these which are arrayed in white robes ? and whence came they?

And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Therefore are they before the throne of God, and SERVE him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.

They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more, neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.

For the Lamb, which is in the midst of the throne, shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters; and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of Rev. 22: 3. God, and of the Lamb shall be in it, and his servants shall SERVE him.

V. TO TRUST IN GOD.

THUS saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that TRUSTETH in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

Blessed is the man that TRUSTETH in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green, and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

TRUST in the LORD, and do good, so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Delight also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Commit thy way unto the LORD: TRUST also in him, and he shall bring it to pass.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he TRUSTETH in thee.

TRUST ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.

For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day, upon the earth:

And though after my skin, worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall be

hold, and not another, though my reins be consumed within

me.

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit Hab. 3: 17 be in the vines: the labor of the olive shall fail and the fields shall yield no meat, the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

Yet I will rejoice in the LORD: I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will Job 13: 15 maintain mine own ways before him.

And I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

I laid me down and slept; I awaked, for the LORD sustained me.

Ps. 3:4.

If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my Job 14: 14. appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

Put not your TRUST in Princes: nor in the son of man, Ps. 146: 3. in whom there is no help.

Now behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised 2 Kg.. 18: 21 reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go

into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.

But if ye say unto me, We TRUST in the LORD our God: is not that he whose high places, and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

It is better to TRUST in the LORD, than to put confi- Ps. 118: 8. dence in man.

It is better to TRUST in the LORD, than to put confidence in Princes.

I waited patiently for the LORD, and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the

miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall TRUST in the LORD.

Blessed is the man that maketh the LORD his TRUST: and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

GOD

VI. TO SEEK GOD.

OD that made the world, and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands:

Neither is worshipped with men's hands as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all, life and breath, and all things.

[ocr errors]

And hath made of one blood all nations of men, for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation:

That they should SEEK the Lord, if haply they might feel after him and find him, though he be not far from every one of us.

And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded. And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him. Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah, and Benjamin, The LORD is with you, while ye be with him: and if ye SEEK him, he will be found of you: but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and wrought that which was good and right and truth before the LORD his God.

And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments to

SEEK his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

SEEK ye the LORD, while he may be found, and call ye upon him while he is near.

Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress: so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

Isa. 55: 6.

Ps. 123: I.

By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth. Sol. Song 3:1 I sought him, but I found him not.

I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will SEEK him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.

The watchmen that go about the city, found me: to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth ?

It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.

But if from thence thou shalt SEEK the LORD thy God, Deut. 4: 29. thou shalt find him, if thou SEEK him with all thy heart,

and with all thy soul.

VII. TO ACKNOWLEDGE GOD.

In all thy ways ACKNOWLEDGE him, and he shall direct Prov. 3: 6. thy paths.

And Jacob awaked up out of his sleep, and he said, Surely Gen. 28: 16. the LORD is in this place, and I knew it not.
