Gen. 35: 13.

1 Sam. 17:45

And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place? this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.

And he called the name of that place Beth-el: but the name of that city was called Luz, at the first.

And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

So that I come again to my father's house in peace: then shall the LORD be my God.

And this stone which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me, I will surely give a tenth unto thee.

And God went up from him, in the place where he talked with him.

And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.

And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Bethel.

Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand, and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee, and I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear (for the battle is the LORD'S) and he will give you into our hands.

Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night Dan. 2: 19, vision: then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

Daniel answered and said; Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth Kings, and setteth up Kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding.

He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.

I thank thee and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.

Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever. My God hath sent his Angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.

And Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, John 6: 11. he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that

were set down, and likewise of the fishes as much as they

would.

And upon a set day Herod arrayed in royal apparel sat Acts 12: 21. upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

And the people gave a shout, saying, it is the voice of a

god and not of a man.

And immediately the Angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory, and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

All this came upon the King Nebuchadnezzar.

At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.

The King spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that

I have built for the kingdom, by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty ?

While the word was in the King's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O King Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; Thy kingdom is departed from thee.

And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field; they shall make thee cat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored him that liveth forever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.

Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those who walk in pride he is able to abase.

Ps. 92: I.

VIII. TO PRAISE GOD.

To show forth thy loving kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night:

our father, for ever and ever.

Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth, is thine: thine is the kingdom, LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.

Both riches, and honor come of thee, and thou reignest over all, and in thine hand is power and might, and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.

Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and PRAISE thy glorious Name.

But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.

PRAISE ye the LORD. Praise God in his Sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

PRAISE him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

PRAISE him with the sound of the Trumpet: praise him with the Psaltery and Harp.

PRAISE him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

PRAISE him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

Let every thing that hath breath PRAISE the LORD. PRAISE YE THE LORD.

And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will PRAISE thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.

Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

The Lord reigneth, let the people tremble: he sitteth between the Cherubim, let the earth be moved.

The LORD is great in Zion: and he is high above all people. Let them PRAISE thy great and terrible Name: for it is holy.

The King's strength also loveth judgment, thou dost establish equity: thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob.

Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool: for he is holy.

Moses and Aaron among his Priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his Name: they called upon the LORD, and he answered them.

He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his Testimonies, and the Ordinance that he gave them.

Thou answeredst them, O LORD our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.

Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill: for the LORD our God is holy.

And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and PRAISE God with a loud voice, for all the mighty works that they had seen;

Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord, peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

Let the people PRAISE thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
