delegated, before some judge of a court of record, or justice. of the peace of said Grant county, who shall certify the same, and thereupon the said commissioners shall deliver the said plat and registry appended, to the register of deeds, in said Grant county, whose duty it shall be to record the same for the fees allowed by law.

SEC. 3. And when the said trustee shall have conveyed in manner aforesaid, to each and every person entitled on said registry, and shall have conveyed by like deed or deeds, the remainder of said before described tract of land not embraced in claims allowed and registered as hereinafter directed then his said trust shall be esteemed as fully discharged, and be released from all further connec tion therewith.

SEC. 5. And it is further enacted that if any of the said

SEC. 6. SEC. 9. A majority of said commissioners may adopt such majority as mode of expressing the sense of such majority on the qustions referred to its decision by this act, as may seem most proper fairly to arrive at the wish of such majority, and may appoint a secretary, whose duty it shall be to keep minutes of the proceedings of said majority, signed by their chairman, and countersigned by the secretary, and all objections which may arise in law or equity, under this act, the said minutes shall be received as evidence of the facts therein entered and stated.

SEC. 10. That should any, or all of the commissioners hereby appointed, refuse or fail to enter upon the duties of may be elset the office herein set forth, then it shall be lawful for the claimants to elect by ballot, a person or persons to act as commissioners, whose authority and duties shall be as legal as though he, or they had been appointed by the legislature; Provided, the person or persons so elected receive a major. ity of the votes of said claimants.

AN ACT

To provide for the payment of the expenses of the Legislative Assembly for the year 1848.

Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

SECTION 1. That there shall be paid out of the sum appro priated by congress for defraying the expenses of the present session of the Legislative Assembly, as follows, to wit:

To Horatio N. Wells, as president of the council, three dol- . lars per day extra, for thity six days services; one hundred and eight dollars.

E To Timothy Burns, as speaker of the house of representatives, three dollars per day extra, for thirty six days' services, one hundred and eight dollars.

To the Rev. Mr. Lord for services as chaplain to the council at the present session, the sum of one hundred dollars.

To the Rev. Hiram W. Reed, for services as chaplain of the house of representatives at the present session, one hundred dollars.

To Dean & Co., for stationery furnished for the use of the legislative assembly at its present session, seventy-four dollars and sixty-two cents.

- To Hale & Chapman, for stationery and other articles furnished for the use of the legislative assembly at its present session, three hundred and eighty-six dollars and seventyninė cents.

To C. M. Rouse, for wood furnished for the use of the legislative assembly at its present session, three hundred dollars, as per contract.

To La Fayette Kellogg, for stationery furnished for the use of the present session of the legislative assembly, thirtyeight dollars and fifty cents.

To J. C. Fairchild, the sum of twelve dollars and fifty cents, for oil furnished the legislative assembly at its present

session.

To J. H. Lewis, for stationery furnished the present session of the legislative assembly, the sum of three dollars and twenty-four cents.

To Beriah Brown, the sum of two hundred and eleven dollars and six cents, for newspapers furnished to members of the legislative assembly at its present session.

To Tenney, Smith & Holt, the sum of two hundred and sixty-two dollars and eight cents for newspapers furnished to members of the legislative assembly at its present session.

To H. G. Bliss, for oil furnished for the use of the legisla tive assembly at its present session, the sum of eight dollars , and sixty-three cents.

To Cramer & Curtis, for newspapers furnished members of the legislative assembly, the sum of seven dollars and eight

cents.

To Thomas McHugh, the sum of two hundred dollars for preparing the journal of the council at the present session, with an index, for publication.

To La Fayette Kellogg, the sum of two hundred dollars, for preparing the journal of the house of representatives at its present session, with an index, for publication.

To John Ramsdall, for writing done for the legislative assembly at its present session, the sum of one hundred and forty-four dollars.

To Albert G. Cole, for writing done for the legislative as sembly at its present session, the sum of one hundred and forty-four dollars.

To George P. Delaplaine, the sum of one hundred and eight dollars for services as private secretary to the governor. To Ira W. Bird, for writing done for the legislative assembly at its present session, the sum of thirty-six dollars.

To Tenney, Smith & Holt, for incidental printing done for the present sesion of the legislative assembly, one thousand one hundred and sixty-three dollars and forty-six cents.
