Ver. 1 TOW these are the Commandments, the Statutes,

and the Judgments which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the Land whither ye go to posless it :

2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his Statutes, and his Commandments which I command thee; thou and thy Son, and thy Son's Son, all the Days of thy Life, and that thy Days may be prolonged.

3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it, that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy Fathers hath promised thee, in the Land that Aoweth with Milk and Honey.

24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these Statutes, to FEAR the LORD OUR GOD, for our Good always.

25 And it shall be our RIGHTEOUSNESS, if we observe to do all these COMMANDMENTS, before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.

CH A P. VII. i All Communion with the Nations forbidden, 4 for fear of

Idolatry. Ver. 1 WHEN the LORD thy God shall bring thee into

the Land whither thou goest to pofless it, and hath cast out many Nations before thee, seven Nations greater and mightier than thou :

2 Thou Nalt make no Covenant with them, nor shew Mercy unto them :

3 Neither shalt thou make Marriages with them ;

4 For they will turn away thy Son from following me, that they may serve other Gods : fo will the Anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

5 But thus shall ye deal with them; ye Thall destroy their Altars, and break down their Images, and cut down their Groves, and burn their graven Images with Fire.

6 For thou art a Holy People unto the Lord thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special People unto himself, above all Peopie that are upon the Face of the Earth.

7. The LORD did not set his Love upon you, nor chuse you, because ye were more in number than any People (for: ye were the fewest of all People)

8. Bat because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the Oath which he ind sworn unto your Fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty Hand, and redeemed you out of the House of Bond-men, from the Hand of Pharaoh King of Egypt.
