In order to avoid such a condition of affairs, I felt that we should have a superintendent of apprentices, a man whose business was to look after the apprentices, not only in the shop but out of the shop — a man who would see that he is taken care of, and see that the foreman does not take advantage ; but as fast as the boy learns he must be pushed along.
Page 12 - If boys and girls are trained merely in literary accomplishments, to the total exclusion of industrial, manual and technical training, the tendency is to unfit them for industrial work and to make them reluctant to go into it, or unfitted to do well if they do go into it.
