Mr. SCHULTZ. Thank you.

I think they have the film ready.

Mr. REYES. In the background you will see the pictures of Ho Chi Minh, Guevara, Fidel Castro.

[graphic]

This is a real proof that these men feel a great sympathy or ideology for these people. Look at Guevara exactly at the back of the head of Allende. This is just before he took over, so it means he is actually a great follower. Look now as the camera pans and you see Ho Chi Minh. You will see later on more of that. We tried to accomplish in this film-look now down just past, that is Guevara, but just below that picture you can see Allende behind Castro-we have to remember that they are shaking hands.

We have to remember that Allende, before becoming President, was a constant visitor of Cuba and a personal friend of Castro and Guevara and all his followers, and right now he has opened the door to all of these communists in Chile.

You know, the real private library reflects the personality of an individual, especially in books and pictures. If somebody has a doubt, it can no longer exist after seeing this film.

I think that the man that is on the top of the head of the interviewer is Fidel Castro. I cannot identify the other person.

Now the next film that you are going to see is the May Day parade in Chile. The essence of the interview is that Allende said he was going to talk with all the nations of the world, including the communist-of course, he did not officially state it, but it was assumed that he wants to do what the Chilean people want him to do. Actually he was showing that he was going to be on the side of the communists. The next film is about the May Day parade on May 1, 1971, in Santiago, Chile. There was a big parade, and you will see something

else on that film. It is a lengthy interview, but you can detail all the pictures that are in the background. And I repeat it is just a private library. The one that is right behind his head showing up from time to time is Guevara, alias Che. The other one is Allende with Fidel Castro. And the other one is Ho Chi Minh.

Here is May 1, 1971, the parade. Notice the line next to the end, "Against the North American Imperialism." It is very peculiar, that sign.

"1889 to 1971, May 1." This is Santiago, Chile, the main avenue. They were having a parade there. This is the presidential box. You will see Allende coming in in a couple minutes.

This is he and behind him the Minister of the Interior, Jose Tohá and apparently the mind behind the throne. Allende is coming to the podium and he will sit down right in front of the sign saying "Against the North American Imperialism." On the back with the Red Chinese delegation, and on his side, the Minister of the Interior.

This is the presidential box. In a few minutes, or in a few seconds, we are going to see one of the personal guards of Allende, the way he dressed. This is one of the personal aides. He has a beret, he has the green fatigue uniform, and he has the star on the beret, Soviet star.

[graphic]

He was interviewed here and he admitted in Spanish that he belongs to the Socialist youngsters of Chile. You can see the beard. He said that he dressed in that way like the Cubans because they have a uniform way of dress.

This man has another one on his side apparently trying to listen to what he is telling to the newsman. This is the star. I repeat, he admitted he is one of the personal aides of Allende. Now, you see the man on the side, also of the militia, who is a Castro type, listening to what they are talking about.

This is an American that visits in Chile. He is a folk singer and he is admitting here that he went there because he is a supporter of the Allende regime. He said that he is visiting unions and hospitals and all

of that. He is very popular in Chile and sometimes it can be said that he is some kind of a link-we don't have definite proof-some kind of a link between the Allende regime and some Americans going to Chile. There is no definite proof of that.

This is the Red Chinese delegation. Look at the sign, "Against the American Imperialists," and the camera will pan back and you can see the sign. That is the sign.

Now here we see the American singing there and singing folk songs about justice and freedom and happiness. His name is Dean Reed.

Now this film was taken May 1. This is a conference of youngsters that support Allende, and it was done at the University of Santiago, and these youngsters were talking about the policy that the government should follow. One of the youngsters was interviewed also for Argentinian television.

This youngster I think is 20 years of age. He was one of the speakers and is one of the leaders of the youth movement in Chile, side by side with Allende.

In this meeting they decided to hold a conference of all the Latin American youngsters, which follow the same pattern of many communist conferences throughout the world. He is saying that they were going to have that conference in Santiago, Chile, from August 25 to September 5.

This conference was labeled as an anti-North American conference. He discussed with the interviewer that the forces of the bourgeois

sooner or later were going to have a clash with the government forces in Chile. He also said that sooner or later he would plan with these forces in order to establish real socialism in Chile.

He also said that the congress system in Chile is obsolete. He said that Chile needs only one general assembly, one camera instead of two and that was what he was fighting for.

The interviewer asked him when this clash will come, would you be ready? He said I am ready right now, and also the youngsters are ready for this clash.

I have to point out at this time that there was a guard of the socialist youngsters with the Castro fatigue uniform and the beret outside. This same conference was visited by President Allende that day.

What I am trying to point out is the way that these youngsters of 20 years express themselves about the clashes that are going to come in Chile, and according to this information this clash is inevitable. He also states that the severity of the clash will be determined by the strength of the resistance of the bourgeois. He also states that they dress like Castro's militiamen because his militiamen are youngsters and they have a uniform dress throughout Latin America, which is the fatigue uniform and the beret.

This is a lengthy interview and, of course, I cannot relate all the things in the interview, but for those who understand Spanish it is very interesting to notice the reactions of these youngsters, especially this one of 20 years, and how they are developing the same Castro technique in Chile and the determination that they have to change the traditional system of government over there.

I have to say, also, that this film is not shown very frequently. It came from a television station, and I repeat it is not so frequently seen to be determined the things that are inside. That is one of the reasons why I brought it here so you can see it.

As you will remember at the beginning of this year it was said that Castro was going to visit Chile, and the date marked by some observers was May 27. In the next film you are going to see a house, shown by the television station in Argentina, in which presumably Fidel Castro was going to stay.

This film was put on the air and it was taken with a lot of security in one neighborhood or suburb of Chile. According to the information I have, the cameraman had a lot of problems to get this film.

This is the area of the house. It is absolutely isolated from the rest. Apparently they wanted to have a lot of security for Castro. After this film was released came the decision that Castro's house was on this street.

I don't want to tie in both situations, but now Castro is apparently going to Chile.
