enabled to fubdue the combin'd Forces of our feveral Enemies: They are too potent for ourselves to overcome, because ourselves are our own Enemies. Our evil Paffions feek to destroy and wound the Peace of our Confciences, unless prevented by the PRINCE of PEACE.

On performing the Petitions of our LORD'S Prayer, depends our everlasting Salvation. For if we do the Will of GOD on Earth, as it is done in Heaven, we shall, after Death, be joined to their celeftial Society to praise Him to all Eternity.

Our gracious REDEEMER hath, by his Death and Resurrection, gained a complete Victory over Satan and Sin, Death and Hell, and hath opened the Kingdom of Heaven to all Believers. Moreover,

at his Departure he hath not left us comfortless; but fent his HOLY SPIRIT to be with us to the End of the World; and to affift us in all our Trials, till we arrive at the Manfions of Glory.

ON

ON THE

LORD'S PRAYER,

In VERSE.

OUR FATHER.

MOST gracious Father, Lord of Heav'n and Earth,

Whofe Pow'r Almighty gave to all Things Birth;
Whofe pow'rful Word did caufe from Nothing's Womb,
Air, Earth, Fire, Water, Sun, Moon, Stars to come.
Before thy awful Throne we proftrate fall,
Off'ring our Souls, our Bodies, and our all:
Thy SON our SAVIOUR taught us what to say,
To call Thee FATHER, when we Sinners pray.
With firm Belief our Wants fhall be fupply'd,
And our Petitions never be deny'd:

When our Petitions reach thy heav'nly Throne
Thou knoweft beft, to grant or let alone:

Our Happiness is thy peculiar Care;

And for our Safety, Angels Guardians are.

In whatfoever Place we live or die,

There Thou art prefent, Heav'n is there as nigh.

Thou art indeed our FATHER; tender, kind;

Let us, thy Children, thy Commandments mind.
With Hearts uplifted, Eyes and Hands the fame;
With all due Rev'rence praise his holy Name.
Nought can a Soul immortal fatisfy

But the moft Mighty LORD who rules the Sky.
Heav'n is our Home, we are but Strangers here,
The Center of all Happiness is there.

Inquiring Souls divine Repasts shall find,

And Pleasures that will overflow the Mind.

If the MOST HIGH and MIGHTY condefcends

To bring us Treasures, more than all our Friends;
To fix his Refidence with Mortals frail:

Grateful Returns to make, we should not fail:
Never to let Him go; keep constant Guard,
That by vain Objects we are not ensnar'd:
So that OUR FATHER will our Cause support,
And fafely bring us to his heav'nly Court.

WHICH ART IN HEAVEN.

THE Heav'n of Heav'ns is with the King of Kings, Where each bright Order his juft Praises fings; Where unknown Raptures charm, and Joys untold; And all the Glory of their LORD behold:

Where gilded Streams with lafting Pleasures run,
And Saints in Glory brighter than the Sun.
O Heav'n of Heav'ns! O Ocean of Delight!
Thou art worth ftriving for with all our might.
For Thee we fcorn these fublunary Toys,
And burn with fervent Zeal for future Joys.
Martyrs have cruel Tyrants' Rage defy'd,
And for thy Sake the worst of Deaths have dy'd.

HALLOWED BE THY NAME.

ALL Praises give to the eternal LORD!
To thee, great GOD! by all thy Saints ador❜d.
Proclaim his Praise with all the Strength of Voice;
For our Salvation let our Hearts rejoice.

When Lips are filent, praise Him ftill in thought;
Let all his Mercies to our Minds be brought;
Tranflated hence to blifsful Realms above,

Where we shall ever fing and ever love.

THY KINGDOM COME.

SET up thy righteous Throne, Almighty LORD! And convert Nations by thy pow'rful Word.

O! may the Turk, the Infidel, the Jew,

And Heathens, who thy Gofpel never knew,

May They, enlighten'd by thy holy Grace,
The true Religion of our LORD embrace.
That all from the dark Regions of the Dead
Efcap'd, they may their joyful Banners spread:

O may the Kingdom of thy Grace prefide
O'er all our Hearts, our future Lives to guide.
Pious and prudent, fober, modeft, just,

And in all Wants to thy Affiftance trust; .
An everlasting Kingdom is the Prize,

To them who beat their fev'ral Enemies,
Drive out the darling Sin, with ev'ry one,

That CHRIST may reign triumphant and alone.
For they who early, and with utmost Care,

First feek God's Kingdom, fhall his Bounties fhare;
What Earth or Heav'n can give, or GoD beftow,
Will all be theirs, who ferve Him here below.
Come, glorious Kingdom, come; come and receive
Kingdoms and glorious Crowns, you who believe:
Come, happy Hour! When we from hence remove
To see our deareft, everlasting LOVE:

With Saints and all the heav'nly Hofts to dwell, Thought can't conceive their Joys, nor Tongue can
