He defcended from the Bofom of his Father, and became the Son of Man; that we, in Obedience to his Precepts, might afcend and become the Sons of GOD. The Prophecies he fulfilled, the Doctrines that he taught, and the Miracles that he wrought, announce Him to be the Son of God. The Prophet ISAIAH * foretold the MESSIAH in thefe Words: For unto us a Child is born; unto us a Son is given: And the Government shall be upon his Shoulder; and his Name fhall be called WONDERFUL, COUNSELLOR, the MIGHTY GOD, the EVERLASTING FATHER, the PRINCE OF PEACE. He hath declared Himfelf to be the Way, the Truth, and the Life; with whom we live, and without whom, we die: Enlightened by Him, we are made truly fenfible of our finful State, and the Horrors of GoD's Judgment upon the Impenitent Sinner.
