IMMIGRATION MOVEMENT FOR FIRST SIX MONTHS OF 1904.

The number of immigrants arrived in Brazil during the first six months of 1904 was 12,073, compared with 11,152 in the same period of 1903. The departures numbered 15,279 during the first six months of 1904, compared with 16,459 for the same period of 1903.

The Bureau of Commercial Statistics of Rio de Janeiro gives the exports of Brazil, according to countries of destination, for the years 1902 and 1903, as follows:

The official figures of the principal exports of Brazil in the years 1902 and 1903 are as follows:

Cotton: 28,235,995 kilograms, of the value of 24,656,496 milreis, in 1903, as against 22,137,678 kilograms, valued at 28,336,417 milreis, in 1902; increase, 6,098,317 kilograms and 2,320,079 milreis.

Monazitic sands: 3,299,460 kilograms, of the value of 1,484,817 milreis, in 1903, against 1,205,080 kilograms, of the value of 1,110,416 milreis, in 1902; increase, 2,094,380 kilograms and 374,401 milreis. Sugar: 21,888,998 kilograms, of the value of 3,932,255 milreis, in 1903, against 136,757,259 kilograms, of the value of 19,003,536 milreis, in 1902; decrease, 114,868,361 kilograms and 15,071,281 milreis.

Castor-oil seeds: 4,045,818 kilograms of the value of 627,723 milreis, in 1903, compared with 2,387,726 kilograms, of the value of 392,797 milreis, in 1902; increase, 1,758,092 kilograms and 234,926 milreis.

Mangabeira rubber: 661,581 kilograms, of the value of 1,932,910 milreis, in 1903, against 350,194 kilograms, of the value of 925,446 milreis, in 1902; increase, 311,387 kilograms and 1,007,464 milreis.

Maniçoba rubber: 1,721,894 kilograms, of the value of 6,584,721 milreis, in 1903, against 807,388 kilograms, valued at 2,685,934 milreis, in 1902; increase, 914,506 kilograms and 3,898,787 milreis.

Seringueira rubber: 29,328,813 kilograms, of the value of 187,689,304 milreis, in 1903, against 27,474,278 kilograms, valued at 144,107,366 milreis, in 1902; increase, 1,854,535 kilograms and 43,581,938 milreis.

Cacao: 20,899,643 kilograms, of the value of 20,415,346 milreis, in 1903, against 20,642,412 kilograms, valued at 20,691,613 milreis, in 1902; increase, 257,231 kilograms; decrease in value of 276,267 milreis. Coffee: 12,927,239 bags, of the value of 384,297,644 milreis, in 1903, against 13,157,383 bags, valued at 409,840,526 milreis, in 1902; decrease, 230,144 bags and 25,542,882 milreis.

Cotton seed: 35,535,072 kilograms, of the value of 2,346,190 milreis, in 1903, against 30,386,671 kilograms, of the value of 1,867,690 milreis, in 1902; increase, 5,148,401 kilograms and 459,500 milreis.

Chestnuts: 157,905 hectoliters, of the value of 2,076,270 milreis, in 1903, against 148,301 hectoliters, of the value of 3,271,228 milreis, in 1902; increase in quantity, 9,604 hectoliters and decrease in value of 502,018 milreis.
