HE cover illustration this inonth is an
interesting view of the largest city in
the United States-New York. There the
eastern headquarters of Southern Pacific
Company are located, as well as two of its
important offices, the General Agency,
Freight Department, and the General
Agency, Passenger Department, both of
which are described in articles of this issue.
The photograph, obtained from Interna-
tional Newsreel, and copyrighted by Major
Hamilton Maxwell who took it from a
flying boat, shows New York's famous dis-
trict, looking clear across the island from
the West to the East side.
At the extreme left of the photograph
is the municipal building, with the graceful
tower of the Woolworth building reaching
far into the heights in the center fore-
ground. In the distance may be seen the
East River bridged by the spans that
daily carry thousands to Brooklyn.
