PREFACE.

WITH another volume of The Church Sunday School Magazine brought to a satisfactory completion, we have the pleasing task imposed upon us of rendering our due acknowledgments to all those kind Friends, who have so largely ministered to its success in this parting year.

We have to thank, in the first place, those many untiring correspondents, who by their cheerful assistance and valued contributions whether in poetry or prose, have done so much credit to our monthly pages, and made our editorial duties both an easy and a pleasing work. And if our thanks are justly due to those who have aided us with their literary exertions, surely we have equally warm thanks to offer to those numerous readers, who have supported us so largely and cheered us so sympathizingly with their kind and generous patronage. It is indeed a subject of deep gratification to ourselves, to witness that our humble labours are so warmly aided and so truly appreciated.

Having thus unburdened ourselves of the thanks and gratitude we felt to be owing on our part towards those, who have thus far, so cheered and supported us in our undertaking, we beg to inform them that, encouraged by their approval and relying on their co-operation-we propose in the ensuing year, in the carrying on of this little work, to make a considerable difference in its
