Dr. Hegee's Cordial of Cod-Liver Oil, all the nutritive properties of the oil are retained and the disgusting and nauseating elements are eliminated. Combined with hypophosphites of lime and soda it offers to the profession a reconstructive of great value. Write Katharmon Chemical Company, St. Louis, Mo., for samples and literature.

Practical facts for busy men is the function of this medical journal.

Substitution in prescriptions offers a fertile field for the unscrupulous druggists, as the chances of detection are slight. Results alone can indicate it and even then it is the physician and not the druggist who is held responsible. The medical profession can eradicate this evil by with-drawing its patronage from all druggists who are open to suspicion.

Dr. Jos. Marshall, of Durand, Mich., writes: "For some years I have been a very warm admirer of Sanmetto, and have found its action marked and well defined in the cases wherein I have used it. In cases of prostratitis, with loss of virile power in elderly men I find its action superb. In chronic specific urethritis, cystitis and all irritable conditions of the urinary tract I find Sanmetto to very efficacious. I do not hesitate to recommend it as a standard preparation in cases where the action of pure santal and saw-palmetto is indicated.

Maltine with phosphate iron. Quinine and Strychnine has, in previous epidemics, served the medical profession as a tonic of great power in restoring to a normal condition those who have been enfeebled by the grip.

As a deodorant and antiseptic for the sick room and for the dentist's office. Listerine stands pre-eminent.

Dr. William Hooker Vail, of St. Louis, Mo., writes: "I regard Terraline as almost a sturdy friend and a preparation for bronchial, pulmonaffections, and other diseases of the throat and lungs, at this time when the grip is so prevalent all over the country, there is no production that so efficiently supports and sustains the physician's treatment as a restorative agent. The disagreeable flavor of the ordinary emulsions is absent, and those nauseating eructations which so derange the stomach are entirely absent. Terraline is a rational scientific tissue builder, and a cogent efficacious expectorant. · I can conscientiously recommend it to the medical profession for bronchitis, laryngitis, phthisis, catarrh, coughs, colds, etc., and also in treating those who are anemic, emaciated and greatly debilitated.

Dr. W. H. Vail, of St. Louis, writes:-"In pneumonia and bronchitis, I give aconite and the following: Amon. carb., gr. viij; tr. digitalis, drops, xv; syr. tolu, oz. ij; teaspoonful. every three hours. Also a teaspoonful of Terrraline three times a day until well, then teaspoonful on retiring,

Science is a first-rate piece of furniture for a man's upper chamber if he has common sense on the ground floor; but if a man has not got plenty of good common sense, the more science he has the worse for his patient.-Oliver Wendell Holmes.
