Ten degrees would be written 10°. Usually a degree is the smallest unit used. However, when more accurate measurement is needed, the degree is broken into 60 equal parts which are called minutes. The abbreviation for a minute is a ' placed in a position similar to the degree sign. Example: 15 minutes = 15'.
